The SOUL Performance Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 987.1 Boxster and Cayman owners who want substantially more naturally aspirated flat-six sound without sacrificing everyday drivability. The factory rear exhaust incorporates restrictive secondary catalytic converters, relatively small tubing, and heavy mufflers that suppress much of the character of the 987.1 engine.

SOUL replaces the factory rear exhaust with a freer-flowing system constructed from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel and high-quality mufflers. The secondary catalytic converters are eliminated, reducing exhaust restriction and allowing substantially more of the flat-six exhaust note to come through under throttle.

Despite the increase in sound, SOUL specifically developed the system to remain refined during normal driving. The mufflers are designed to virtually eliminate objectionable drone during cruising and partial-throttle operation—even when the exhaust is paired with aftermarket catless headers. The result is a system that becomes aggressive when the engine is worked while remaining controlled around town and on the highway.

PORSCHE SPORT EXHAUST / VALVE OPERATION:

The SOUL Performance Exhaust is a fixed, non-valved exhaust system.

Vehicles originally equipped with Porsche Sport Exhaust can use the SOUL Performance Exhaust, but the factory rear exhaust and its selectable valve functionality are replaced by the fixed SOUL system.

The SOUL Performance Exhaust is designed to provide its full exhaust character at all times while using its mufflers to control unwanted resonance and drone.

For customers who specifically want selectable quiet and aggressive exhaust modes, the SOUL Valved Exhaust System is the more appropriate configuration.

SECONDARY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS:

The factory 987.1 exhaust uses catalytic converters within the header assemblies as well as additional secondary catalytic converters farther downstream.

The SOUL Performance Exhaust removes the secondary catalytic converters contained within the factory rear exhaust while leaving the primary catalytic converters untouched when the vehicle retains its factory headers.

SOUL states that the Performance Exhaust is designed to operate without triggering a check engine light.
