The SOUL Race Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 and Boxster Spyder owners who prioritize maximum sound, reduced weight, durability, and track-focused performance. Developed specifically for aggressive track use, the system replaces the factory rear exhaust with a purpose-built architecture engineered to withstand sustained high-temperature, high-RPM operation while delivering an extremely aggressive naturally aspirated flat-six exhaust note.
Full 2.5-inch over-axle piping provides a free-flowing exhaust path while maintaining clearance around the axles and sway-bar end links, including on heavily modified or lowered vehicles. Rather than relying on conventional exhaust hangers welded directly to the piping, SOUL developed a dedicated transmission-mounted support system designed to improve durability under demanding track conditions.
The forward exhaust piping attaches to a bespoke SOUL transmission mounting brace using heavy-duty Mikalor band clamps. Additional rubber vibration dampeners support the over-axle piping and help isolate movement and vibration throughout the exhaust assembly. SOUL's mounting solution alone removes more than 5 lbs compared with the factory mounting hardware.
The complete system is constructed from mandrel-bent .065-inch-wall, 2.5-inch-diameter T304L stainless steel tubing. Laser-cut and press-brake-formed brackets are TIG welded for strength, while all exhaust welds are back-purged to improve durability and longevity under extreme operating conditions.
This is an intentionally aggressive exhaust system. SOUL designed it primarily around track performance rather than sound attenuation and specifically describes it as very loud. Cabin drone will still be present despite the resonated design, particularly during sustained cruising. For owners looking for the rawest and most track-focused exhaust configuration for the 981 GT4 or Spyder, the Race Exhaust delivers maximum exhaust presence without the complexity of a valved system.

The SOUL Race Exhaust System was developed primarily for track use and performance rather than maximum sound attenuation.
SOUL describes the system as very loud and specifically notes that cabin drone will remain present even with the resonators. Pairing the Race Exhaust with aftermarket headers will further increase overall exhaust volume and intensity.
SOUL does not recommend using the Race Exhaust together with aftermarket headers for normal street driving. Owners looking for a more refined exhaust experience with the ability to reduce volume when desired should consider the SOUL Valved Exhaust System instead.
The SOUL Race Exhaust is designed to fit vehicles equipped with the factory Porsche headers or compatible SOUL headers.
Because over-axle pipe clearance is intentionally optimized for the GT4 / Spyder chassis, dimensional differences in some third-party aftermarket header systems may create clearance issues. Customers using non-SOUL aftermarket headers should confirm compatibility before ordering.

This DasMotoring listing includes SOUL Straight-Cut Single-Wall exhaust tips in Signature Satin.
To keep ordering simple, alternate tip finishes and styles are not offered through the standard product options. If you would like a different SOUL tip configuration, contact DasMotoring before ordering and we can confirm availability and pricing.
The SOUL Performance Exhaust uses a fixed, non-valved configuration for drivers who want a consistently aggressive exhaust note, reduced complexity, and strong exhaust flow.
The SOUL Valved Exhaust System adds controllable exhaust valves, allowing the driver to substantially reduce exhaust volume when desired while retaining an aggressive 3.8L flat-six sound with the valves open.
For owners who want the car to sound aggressive at all times and do not need selectable exhaust modes, the Performance Exhaust provides the simpler solution. For frequent highway driving, early-morning use, or owners who want the ability to quiet the car on demand, the Valved Exhaust provides greater flexibility.
The SOUL Valved Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 981 Cayman GT4, Boxster Spyder, and GT4 Clubsport owners who want to amplify the character of the 3.8L naturally aspirated flat-six without sacrificing street usability. The system combines a refined muffled exhaust path with a freer-flowing 2.5-inch path, allowing the driver to transition between comfortable cruising and a significantly more aggressive exhaust experience.
With the valves closed, exhaust gases are routed through SOUL's packed mufflers to produce a refined, sporty exhaust note while minimizing unwanted cabin drone. SOUL specifically developed the system to remain comfortable at highway speeds with the factory headers or high-flow catted headers, making it well suited for cars that see regular street use.
With the valves open, exhaust gases are allowed to flow through large 2.5-inch piping, substantially increasing volume and allowing the 3.8L flat-six to deliver a more aggressive, high-RPM exhaust note. Perforations within the exhaust path keep the mufflers acoustically connected to the system, helping create a fuller and more robust tone rather than simply increasing overall volume.
SOUL also engineered the system with owners of catless headers in mind. Although overall exhaust volume increases considerably when paired with a catless header system, minimizing objectionable drone remained a primary design goal.

The SOUL Valved Exhaust System can be paired with the factory headers, SOUL Long Tube Street Headers, or SOUL Competition Headers.
With factory or high-flow catted headers, SOUL designed the valves-closed mode to provide a refined exhaust note with minimal highway drone.
Pairing the system with catless Competition Headers substantially increases overall exhaust volume and aggression. The valved design still provides the ability to reduce exhaust volume when desired, making this system particularly useful for owners who want an aggressive complete exhaust setup without permanently committing to maximum volume.
The SOUL Competition Headers are designed for Porsche 981 Cayman GT4, Boxster Spyder, and GT4 Clubsport owners looking to extract maximum performance, response, and sound from the naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-six. By eliminating the factory catalytic converters and replacing the restrictive factory header assemblies with a purpose-built performance design, the Competition Headers create a substantially freer-flowing exhaust path while reducing weight and operating temperatures.
SOUL developed this application specifically around the airflow requirements of the 3.8L engine, using 2-inch primary runners and appropriately sized collectors to maximize exhaust flow throughout the rev range. Port-matched flanges, smooth-radius primary tubing, and performance-oriented collectors work together to improve the transition from the cylinder heads into the remainder of the exhaust system.
Third-party testing performed on a Dyno Dynamics dynamometer demonstrated significant gains when the headers were combined with ECU calibration. SOUL reports approximately 40 wheel horsepower gained with the Competition Headers and tune combined, with approximately 20 wheel horsepower gained from the Competition Headers after the ECU tune had already been applied. Actual results will vary depending on vehicle condition, fuel, calibration, environmental conditions, and supporting modifications.
Removing the factory catalytic converters also produces a significantly more aggressive exhaust note, allowing substantially more of the high-RPM flat-six character of the GT4 and Spyder to come through. For owners prioritizing maximum exhaust flow, performance, and sound, the Competition Headers are the most aggressive header configuration in the SOUL lineup.

Optional O2 sensor spacers available
Backed by SOUL Performance Products' Lifetime Warranty for both street and track use
The SOUL Competition Headers remove the factory catalytic converters and may trigger a check engine light as a result.
Optional O2 sensor spacers are available and may reduce the likelihood of catalyst-efficiency fault codes; however, O2 spacers should not be considered a guaranteed method of preventing a check engine light.
SOUL recommends an appropriate custom ECU calibration to address catalyst-related fault codes on vehicles equipped with these headers. A performance calibration can also allow the engine to better take advantage of the substantially increased exhaust flow provided by the catless configuration.
Optional O2 sensor spacers can be added to the Competition Headers at the time of purchase.
The spacers reposition the downstream oxygen sensors farther from the direct exhaust stream and may reduce the likelihood of catalyst-efficiency fault codes on some vehicles. Results can vary depending on the vehicle and calibration, and DasMotoring does not guarantee that O2 spacers will prevent a check engine light.
The SOUL Competition Headers eliminate the catalytic converters entirely, providing the least restrictive exhaust path, greater exhaust volume, and the most aggressive configuration for the 3.8L engine.
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers retain large-diameter, free-flowing catalytic converters while still providing substantially improved exhaust flow, response, and performance over the factory header assemblies.
For owners prioritizing maximum flow, sound, and performance—and who plan to appropriately address catalyst-related ECU faults—the Competition Headers provide the more aggressive configuration. For owners who want to retain catalytic converters and maintain a more street-oriented exhaust system, the Long Tube Street Headers provide the catted alternative.
The SOUL Competition Headers remove the factory catalytic converters and are not CARB certified. SOUL identifies this product as intended for off-road use only due to removal of the factory catalytic converters.
Customers are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations before installation or use.
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers are designed specifically for the 3.8L naturally aspirated flat-six found in the Porsche 981 Cayman GT4, Boxster Spyder, and GT4 Clubsport. By replacing the restrictive factory header assemblies with properly sized long-tube runners, performance-oriented collectors, and large-diameter free-flowing catalytic converters, the system improves exhaust flow, throttle response, power delivery, and flat-six exhaust character while retaining a catted configuration.
SOUL developed this application specifically around the airflow requirements of the 3.8L engine, using 2-inch primary runners and appropriately sized collectors to support strong performance throughout the rev range and during sustained high-RPM operation. The catalytic converters are also sized to provide the flow capacity and durability required for demanding street and track use.
Third-party testing performed on a Dyno Dynamics dynamometer demonstrated significant gains when the headers were combined with ECU calibration. SOUL reports approximately 30 wheel horsepower gained with the headers and tune together, with approximately 12 wheel horsepower attributed to the Street Headers after the tune had already been applied. Actual results will vary depending on vehicle condition, fuel, calibration, environmental conditions, and supporting modifications.
For owners who want improved exhaust flow, throttle response, and naturally aspirated flat-six sound without moving to a fully catless configuration, the SOUL Long Tube Street Headers provide a strong balance of performance and street usability.

The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers are designed as a direct bolt-on upgrade and to provide increased exhaust flow and performance without triggering a check engine light.
Third-party Dyno Dynamics testing demonstrates that the 3.8L engine can benefit substantially when the increased exhaust flow is combined with an appropriate ECU calibration. Testing showed approximately 30 additional wheel horsepower with the headers and tune combined, while comparison testing indicated approximately 12 wheel horsepower of that improvement came from the Street Headers after the ECU tune had already been installed.
An ECU tune is not included with the headers, and actual power gains will vary depending on vehicle condition, fuel quality, calibration, environmental conditions, and additional modifications.
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers retain large-diameter, free-flowing catalytic converters while significantly improving the exhaust path compared with the factory header assemblies.
This configuration is intended for owners who want increased flow, response, performance, and exhaust character while retaining catalytic converters rather than converting the vehicle to a fully catless exhaust configuration.

The SOUL Race Exhaust System is engineered for Porsche 981 Boxster and Cayman owners who prioritize maximum sound, reduced weight, durability, and track-focused performance. Unlike SOUL's street-oriented Performance and Valved Exhaust systems, the Race Exhaust is built specifically around the demands of sustained high-performance driving, with minimal emphasis on sound attenuation and maximum emphasis on simplicity and strength.
Full 2.5-inch over-axle piping provides a free-flowing exhaust path while maintaining clearance around the axles and sway-bar end links, including on heavily modified or lowered vehicles. The system uses dedicated transmission-mounted support hardware rather than relying solely on conventional welded exhaust hangers, helping reduce stress on the exhaust assembly during aggressive track use.
SOUL developed a bespoke mounting system with separate configurations for Manual and PDK transmissions. The forward piping attaches to the transmission brace using heavy-duty Mikalor band clamps, while additional rubber vibration dampeners support the over-axle piping and help isolate movement and vibration. The mounting system itself saves more than 5 lbs compared with the factory mounting hardware.
The complete system weighs approximately 30 lbs, compared with approximately 44 lbs for the factory non-PSE exhaust and 48 lbs for the factory PSE system with mounting brackets, providing weight savings of approximately 14–18 lbs depending on the original exhaust configuration.
This is an intentionally aggressive exhaust system. SOUL specifically designed it for track use and warns that it is very loud, with cabin drone still present despite the resonated configuration. The SOUL Race Exhaust System was developed primarily for track performance rather than sound attenuation.
SOUL describes the system as very loud and notes that cabin drone will remain present even with resonators. Pairing the Race Exhaust with aftermarket headers will further increase overall volume, and SOUL specifically does not recommend running this combination on the street.
For owners looking for a more refined exhaust experience with the ability to reduce volume when desired, the SOUL Valved Exhaust System is the more street-oriented alternative.
The SOUL Race Exhaust is the most track-focused option in the standard 981 exhaust lineup. Its lightweight mounting architecture, full 2.5-inch piping, and aggressive sound profile prioritize durability, weight reduction, and maximum exhaust presence.
The SOUL Performance Exhaust is intended for drivers who still want a consistently aggressive non-valved exhaust but prefer greater sound attenuation and street usability through conventional mufflers.
For dedicated track cars or owners prioritizing maximum sound and reduced weight, the Race Exhaust is the more purpose-built configuration. For a primarily street-driven 981, the Performance Exhaust provides a more controlled compromise.

The SOUL Performance Exhaust uses a fixed, non-valved configuration for drivers who want a consistently aggressive exhaust note, reduced complexity, and high exhaust flow.
The SOUL Valved Exhaust System adds controllable exhaust valves, allowing the driver to significantly reduce exhaust volume when desired while retaining an aggressive flat-six sound with the valves open.
This listing is intended for standard 981 Boxster and Cayman Base, S, and GTS models.
The 981 Cayman GT4, Boxster Spyder, and GT4 Clubsport use a separate SOUL Performance Exhaust System designed specifically for those vehicles. SOUL maintains a distinct GT4 / Spyder / Clubsport exhaust application.
The SOUL Valved Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 981 Boxster and Cayman owners who want to bring out significantly more of the naturally aspirated flat-six character while retaining the ability to quiet the car when desired. Rather than simply increasing volume, the system uses two distinct exhaust paths to provide a refined, controlled sound with the valves closed and a dramatically more aggressive motorsport-inspired tone with the valves open.
With the valves closed, exhaust gases are routed through SOUL's packed mufflers, which are specifically designed to minimize cabin drone while maintaining a refined, sporty exhaust note. This makes the system well suited for highway cruising, longer trips, early-morning starts, and everyday street use.
Open the valves and exhaust gases are allowed to flow through large 2.5-inch piping, substantially increasing volume and allowing more of the 981's naturally aspirated flat-six sound to come through. Perforations within the system keep the mufflers acoustically connected to the exhaust path, helping create a fuller and more robust tone rather than simply making the car louder.
For vehicles equipped with factory Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE), the SOUL system can retain factory valve operation using the existing exhaust controls. Vehicles without PSE use the included SOUL valve controller. The controller can also provide direct manual valve override on PSE-equipped vehicles, giving the driver greater control over when the exhaust valves are open or closed.
The result is a versatile exhaust system that can remain refined and comfortable when desired while transforming the sound and character of the 981 when the valves are opened.

This listing is intended for standard 981 Boxster and Cayman Base, S, and GTS models.
The 981 Cayman GT4, Boxster Spyder, and GT4 Clubsport use a separate SOUL Valved Exhaust System designed specifically for those vehicles.
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers are designed for Porsche 981 Boxster and Cayman owners looking to improve exhaust flow, throttle response, and naturally aspirated flat-six sound while retaining catalytic converters. Combining long-tube runner geometry with large, free-flowing catalysts, the system provides a more performance-oriented exhaust path without moving to a fully catless configuration.
SOUL developed the headers specifically around the 981 platform, using 2-inch primary runners and appropriately sized collectors to improve exhaust flow. The design was optimized around the 3.4L flat-six while also providing meaningful improvements for the 2.7L engine.
Each header incorporates a SOUL-designed, U.S.-produced 300-cell catalytic converter featuring a custom-specified precious-metal catalyst coating and triple metal-matrix core. This allows the Street Headers to reduce restriction compared with the factory assemblies while retaining catalytic converters and, according to SOUL, operating without triggering a check engine light.
Port-matched flanges, smooth-radius primary tubing, long-tube runner geometry, and performance-oriented collectors work together to create a smoother exhaust path from the cylinder heads through the catalysts. The result is a freer-revving, more responsive flat-six with increased exhaust character while retaining a more street-oriented configuration than SOUL's catless Competition Headers.

Optional SOUL copper header gasket set available
Backed by SOUL Performance Products' Lifetime Warranty for both street and track use
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers retain 300-cell high-flow catalytic converters and are designed for owners looking for improved exhaust flow, response, and flat-six sound while maintaining a catted exhaust configuration.
The SOUL Competition Headers eliminate the catalytic converters entirely for a less restrictive exhaust path, greater weight reduction, and a substantially more aggressive exhaust note.
For owners who primarily drive their 981 on the street and want a significant exhaust upgrade without moving to a fully catless configuration, the Long Tube Street Headers provide the more refined solution.
SOUL specifically designed the 300-cell catalytic converters and catalyst coating used in these headers to provide increased exhaust flow without triggering a check engine light under normal operating conditions.
An ECU tune is not required for installation. However, an appropriate performance calibration may allow the engine to take additional advantage of the improved exhaust flow when combined with other modifications.
A SOUL copper header gasket set can be added for customers replacing worn factory gaskets or who prefer a reusable, high-quality gasket solution.
The copper gasket set is available as a $65 option with the headers.
These headers retain catalytic converters; however, the product is not CARB certified and may not be legal for use on emissions-controlled vehicles. SOUL identifies the product as intended for off-road use.
Customers are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations before installation or use.
The SOUL Competition Headers transform one of the most restrictive sections of the Porsche 981 Boxster and Cayman exhaust system. Replacing the heavy factory manifolds and catalytic converters with a free-flowing, catless header design reduces restriction, removes approximately 11 lbs from the vehicle, and allows substantially more of the naturally aspirated flat-six character to come through.
SOUL developed these headers specifically for the 981 platform, using 2-inch primary runners and properly sized collectors to improve exhaust flow and engine response. While the system was optimized around the 3.4L engine found in the Cayman S and Boxster S, SOUL designed the same architecture to provide meaningful improvements on the 2.7L engine as well.
Port-matched flanges, smooth-radius primary tubing, and performance-oriented collectors work together to improve exhaust flow through the complete header assembly. Removing the factory catalytic converters also produces a considerably more aggressive exhaust note and allows the engine to respond more freely throughout the rev range.
For owners looking to extract more sound and performance from a naturally aspirated 981 while significantly reducing exhaust restriction and weight, the Competition Headers are one of the most substantial exhaust upgrades available for the platform.
Fits 2013–2016 Porsche 981 Boxster and Cayman models
Compatible with both 2.7L and 3.4L naturally aspirated flat-six engines
Complete catless replacement for the factory exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters
Features 2-inch primary runners developed specifically for the Porsche 981 platform
Runner and collector geometry optimized to improve exhaust flow and engine response
Port-matched flanges provide a smooth transition from the cylinder head into the primary runners
Smooth-radius primary tubing helps minimize unnecessary exhaust restriction
Performance-oriented collectors improve the transition from the individual primary tubes into the remainder of the exhaust system
Saves approximately 11 lbs compared with the factory exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters
Produces a substantially more aggressive flat-six exhaust note
Constructed from 14–16 gauge T304L stainless steel tubing
Direct bolt-on installation
Each system is fixture-tested prior to shipment to help ensure accurate fitment
New high-grade installation hardware included
Installation instructions included
Backed by SOUL Performance Products' Lifetime Warranty for both street and track use
The SOUL Competition Headers remove the factory catalytic converters and may trigger a check engine light as a result.
SOUL recommends an appropriate ECU calibration for vehicles using these headers to address catalyst-related fault codes. ECU tuning may also allow the engine to better take advantage of the increased exhaust flow provided by the catless header configuration.
Optional O2 sensor spacers are available, but they should not be considered a guaranteed method of preventing catalyst-efficiency fault codes.
Optional O2 sensor spacers are available for customers who would like them included with the Competition Headers.
O2 spacers reposition the downstream oxygen sensors farther from the direct exhaust stream and may reduce the likelihood of catalyst-efficiency fault codes in some applications. Results can vary by vehicle and calibration, and DasMotoring does not guarantee that O2 spacers will prevent a check engine light.
The SOUL Competition Headers remove the factory catalytic converters and are not CARB certified. SOUL identifies this product as intended for off-road use due to removal of the factory catalytic converters.

A lightweight flywheel reduces rotating mass at the engine, allowing the engine to gain and lose RPM more quickly. The result is a sharper, more immediate connection between your right foot, the engine, and the gearbox. Rev-matched downshifts feel cleaner, throttle blips feel more natural, and the car takes on a more responsive, motorsport-style personality.
Because the flywheel is significantly lighter than the factory dual-mass flywheel setup, some additional drivetrain noise, gear rollover sound, or chatter may be present. This is normal for many lightweight flywheel conversions and is part of the more mechanical driving experience.
The best way to minimize NVH and gearbox chatter is to avoid lugging the engine. Drivers should never lug the engine to begin with, and this is especially important with a lightweight flywheel. Keeping the engine above approximately 2,000 rpm, or selecting a lower gear when climbing hills or accelerating from low speed, will help keep the drivetrain happier and reduce unwanted chatter. The higher the rpm, the less drivetrain chatter and NVH you will have.
This is a complete flywheel and clutch package. It is the better choice if your clutch is worn, your pressure plate is worn or unknown, or you want the flywheel and clutch components matched together from the start.
A flywheel-only setup may be appropriate only if your car already has a compatible clutch and pressure plate configuration in good condition and you are specifically replacing only the flywheel. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering so we can help verify the correct AASCO option for your car.
