Product Description
The SOUL Performance Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 987.2 Boxster and Cayman owners who want a consistently aggressive naturally aspirated flat-six exhaust note without the complexity of a valved system. Developed as a lighter and simpler alternative to SOUL's Valved Exhaust System, the Performance Exhaust delivers its full exhaust character at all times while using high-quality mufflers to minimize unwanted drone and rasp.
SOUL developed the system to provide a substantial increase in exhaust volume over the factory system while maintaining the refined sound quality expected from a Porsche. Under throttle, the exhaust allows significantly more of the naturally aspirated flat-six character to come through. During cruising and partial-throttle driving, the mufflers are specifically designed to minimize objectionable cabin resonance.
The Performance Exhaust is particularly well suited for owners who want to pair a more aggressive rear exhaust with upgraded headers. SOUL designed the mufflers to remain effective at controlling undesirable drone and rasp even when the system is combined with freer-flowing aftermarket headers.
Compared with the SOUL Valved Exhaust System, this system eliminates exhaust valves and selectable sound modes altogether. The result is a straightforward, fixed exhaust configuration that delivers an aggressive exhaust note whenever the vehicle is running.

PORSCHE SPORT EXHAUST / VALVE OPERATION:
The SOUL Performance Exhaust is a fixed, non-valved exhaust system.
Vehicles originally equipped with Porsche Sport Exhaust can use the SOUL Performance Exhaust, but the factory selectable exhaust-valve functionality is no longer used after installation. The SOUL system maintains its more aggressive exhaust character at all times rather than switching between quiet and loud modes.
For owners who want the ability to significantly reduce exhaust volume when desired, the SOUL Valved Exhaust System provides the more appropriate configuration.
SOUND CHARACTER:
SOUL developed the Performance Exhaust to deliver an invigorating flat-six exhaust note similar in character to the valves-open mode of its Valved Exhaust System, but without requiring valves or electronic control.
The system is noticeably louder than factory Porsche Sport Exhaust with the valves open while retaining mufflers specifically designed to minimize unwanted drone and rasp.
This makes the Performance Exhaust a strong choice for owners who want a consistently aggressive sound without making the vehicle unnecessarily harsh during cruising.
TIP CONFIGURATION:
This DasMotoring listing includes SOUL Straight-Cut Single-Wall exhaust tips in Signature Satin.
To keep ordering simple, alternate tip finishes and styles are not offered through the standard product options. If you would like a different SOUL tip configuration, contact DasMotoring before ordering and we can confirm availability and pricing.
SOUL also offers alternate 321 stainless steel tip styles and finishes by special request. Titanium single-wall tips are also available and save nearly one pound compared with the stainless steel tips.
PERFORMANCE VS. VALVED EXHAUST:
The SOUL Performance Exhaust uses a fixed, non-valved configuration for drivers who want a consistently aggressive exhaust note, reduced complexity, and strong exhaust flow.
The SOUL Valved Exhaust System adds controllable exhaust valves, allowing the driver to substantially reduce exhaust volume when desired while retaining an aggressive flat-six sound with the valves open.
For owners who want the car to sound aggressive at all times and do not need selectable exhaust modes, the Performance Exhaust provides the simpler solution. For frequent highway driving, early-morning use, or owners who want the ability to quiet the vehicle on demand, the Valved Exhaust provides greater flexibility.
EMISSIONS / USE NOTE:
This product is not CARB certified and may not be legal for use on emissions-controlled vehicles. SOUL identifies the system as intended for off-road use only.

Product Description
The SOUL Race Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 987.2 Boxster and Cayman owners who prioritize maximum sound, substantial weight reduction, durability, and track-focused performance. Developed specifically around the demands of aggressive driving, the system replaces the heavy factory rear exhaust with a lightweight architecture engineered to withstand sustained high-temperature and high-RPM use.
SOUL developed the system using free-flowing over-axle piping designed to maintain clearance around the axles and sway-bar end links, including on lowered or heavily modified vehicles. Rather than relying solely on conventional exhaust hangers welded directly to the piping, SOUL uses a purpose-built transmission-mounted support system designed to reduce stress and improve durability during demanding track use.
The forward exhaust piping attaches to a bespoke SOUL transmission mounting brace using heavy-duty Mikalor band clamps. Additional rubber vibration dampeners support the over-axle piping and help isolate movement and vibration throughout the exhaust assembly. SOUL's mounting system alone saves more than 5 lbs compared with the factory mounting hardware.
Weight reduction is one of the most significant benefits of the Race Exhaust. The complete SOUL system weighs approximately 27 lbs, compared with approximately 46 lbs for the factory exhaust components with mounting brackets, reducing vehicle weight by approximately 19 lbs / 8.6 kg.
This is an intentionally aggressive exhaust system. SOUL developed it primarily for track performance rather than maximum sound attenuation and specifically describes the system as very loud. Resonators help shape the exhaust note, but cabin drone will still be present. For owners prioritizing maximum naturally aspirated flat-six sound, reduced weight, and track-focused durability, the SOUL Race Exhaust represents the most aggressive rear exhaust option for the 987.2 platform.

SOUND / STREET USE:
The SOUL Race Exhaust System was developed primarily for track performance rather than sound attenuation.
SOUL specifically describes the system as very loud and notes that cabin drone will remain present even with the resonators. Pairing the Race Exhaust with aftermarket headers will further increase overall exhaust volume and intensity.
SOUL does not recommend pairing the Race Exhaust with aftermarket headers for normal street use. Owners looking for a more refined exhaust system with the ability to significantly reduce volume when desired should consider the SOUL Valved Exhaust System instead.
HEADER COMPATIBILITY:
The SOUL Race Exhaust is designed to fit vehicles equipped with the factory Porsche headers or compatible SOUL headers.
Because the over-axle piping is designed around specific chassis clearances, dimensional differences in some third-party aftermarket header systems may create fitment or clearance issues. Customers using non-SOUL aftermarket headers should confirm compatibility before ordering.
TIP CONFIGURATION:
This DasMotoring listing includes SOUL Straight-Cut Single-Wall exhaust tips in Signature Satin.
To keep ordering simple, alternate tip configurations are not offered through the standard product options. If you would like a different SOUL tip configuration, contact DasMotoring before ordering and we can confirm availability and pricing.

Product Description
The SOUL Valved Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 987.2 Boxster and Cayman owners who want a dramatic increase in naturally aspirated flat-six sound while retaining the ability to quiet the car when desired. The system provides two distinctly different exhaust personalities, combining refined highway manners with a much more aggressive exhaust note at the press of a button.
With the valves closed, exhaust gases are routed through SOUL's high-quality mufflers to produce a refined, sporty sound while minimizing unwanted cabin drone. With factory headers installed, SOUL specifically developed the system to remain comfortable at highway speeds and quiet enough for normal neighborhood and everyday driving.
Open the valves and exhaust gases are allowed to flow through large 2.5-inch piping, substantially increasing volume and allowing more of the naturally aspirated flat-six character to come through. Perforations within the exhaust path keep the mufflers acoustically connected to the system even with the valves open, helping create a fuller and more robust tone rather than simply increasing overall volume.
SOUL developed the system on its own 987.2 Cayman S and tested it extensively on both street and track applications, including the Cayman R. The exhaust is also designed to pair well with aftermarket headers, allowing owners to build a more aggressive complete exhaust system while retaining the ability to reduce volume when desired.
The complete SOUL Valved Exhaust weighs approximately 30 lbs, compared with approximately 35 lbs for the factory exhaust components, saving approximately 5 lbs / 2.2 kg.

VALVE OPERATION:
The SOUL Valved Exhaust includes a valve controller kit.
Vehicles without factory Porsche Sport Exhaust use the included controller to operate the exhaust valves.
Vehicles equipped with factory PSE can retain normal factory exhaust-valve operation. The included SOUL controller can also provide direct manual valve override, allowing the driver to open or close the exhaust valves independently of Porsche's factory valve strategy.
This gives the driver the flexibility to significantly reduce exhaust volume during highway cruising, neighborhood driving, or longer trips while retaining immediate access to the more aggressive valves-open exhaust mode.
SOUND CHARACTER:
With the valves closed and factory headers installed, the SOUL Valved Exhaust is designed to provide a refined and sporty exhaust note without objectionable highway drone.
Opening the valves dramatically changes the character of the system. Exhaust gases are allowed to flow through the large 2.5-inch path, substantially increasing volume and allowing more of the 987.2's naturally aspirated flat-six sound to reach the driver.
Pairing the system with aftermarket headers will further increase overall exhaust volume and character while the valved architecture retains the ability to reduce sound when desired.
PERFORMANCE / DEVELOPMENT:
SOUL developed the 987.2 Valved Exhaust using its own Cayman S and tested the system extensively in both street and track environments.
Dyno testing performed with the SOUL Valved Exhaust combined with SOUL Long Tube Street Headers demonstrated maximum gains of approximately 8 wheel horsepower and 11 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 RPM.
These results represent the combined exhaust configuration and should not be interpreted as gains from the Valved Exhaust alone. Actual performance will vary based on vehicle configuration, engine condition, fuel, environmental conditions, ECU calibration, and additional modifications.
SOUL also offers alternate stainless steel and titanium tip configurations by special request. Titanium single-wall tips can save nearly one pound compared with stainless steel tips.
VALVED EXHAUST BENEFITS:
The SOUL Valved Exhaust is particularly well suited for owners who want a more aggressive exhaust system without permanently committing to maximum volume.
The ability to switch between muffled and freer-flowing exhaust paths makes the system suitable for daily driving, long-distance cruising, spirited back-road driving, and track use while retaining substantially greater control over overall exhaust volume than a fixed non-valved system.
Product Description
The SOUL Competition Headers are designed for Porsche 987.2 Boxster and Cayman owners looking to maximize exhaust flow, reduce weight, sharpen engine response, and significantly increase naturally aspirated flat-six sound. By replacing the heavy and restrictive factory header and catalytic converter assemblies with a purpose-built catless design, the Competition Headers remove one of the major restrictions in the factory exhaust system.
SOUL developed this application specifically for the 987.2 platform using 2-inch primary runners and appropriately sized collectors. The runner and collector geometry was optimized around the 3.4L engine while also producing meaningful gains on the 2.9L flat-six. Port-matched flanges, smooth-radius primary tubing, and performance-oriented collectors work together to create a freer-flowing exhaust path from the cylinder heads into the remainder of the exhaust system.
Dyno testing on SOUL's Cayman S PDK demonstrated maximum gains of approximately 9 wheel horsepower and 10 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 RPM when the Competition Headers were paired with the SOUL Valved Exhaust System. Actual results will vary depending on engine configuration, exhaust system, fuel, environmental conditions, ECU calibration, and supporting modifications.
Weight reduction is another significant benefit. The factory header assemblies weigh approximately 26 lbs, while the SOUL Competition Headers weigh approximately 19 lbs without hardware, removing approximately 7 lbs / 3.2 kg from the vehicle.
For owners prioritizing maximum exhaust flow, reduced weight, sharper response, and a substantially more aggressive flat-six exhaust note, the SOUL Competition Headers provide the most aggressive header configuration for the 987.2 platform.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT / ECU TUNING:
The SOUL Competition Headers remove the factory catalytic converters and may trigger a check engine light as a result.
SOUL recommends an appropriate custom ECU calibration to address catalyst-related fault codes on vehicles equipped with these headers. ECU tuning may also allow the engine to better take advantage of the increased exhaust flow provided by the catless configuration.
O2 SPACERS:
Optional O2 sensor spacers can be added to the Competition Headers at the time of purchase.
O2 sensor spacers reposition the downstream oxygen sensors farther from the direct exhaust stream and may reduce the likelihood of catalyst-efficiency fault codes on some vehicles.
Results can vary depending on vehicle condition and ECU calibration, and DasMotoring does not guarantee that O2 spacers will prevent a check engine light.
COMPETITION VS. STREET HEADERS:
The SOUL Competition Headers remove the catalytic converters entirely, providing a freer-flowing exhaust path, approximately 7 lbs of weight reduction, and a substantially more aggressive exhaust configuration.
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers retain large-diameter, free-flowing catalytic converters while still improving runner geometry, exhaust flow, response, performance, and flat-six sound.
For owners prioritizing maximum flow, reduced weight, and sound—and who are prepared to address catalyst-related ECU faults—the Competition Headers provide the more aggressive configuration. For owners who want to retain catalytic converters and maintain a more street-oriented exhaust system, the Long Tube Street Headers provide the catted alternative.
OPTIONAL COPPER HEADER GASKETS:
A SOUL Copper Header Gasket Set can be added when installing the Competition Headers.
The gasket set replaces the old or worn factory gaskets at the header-to-cylinder-head and header-to-exhaust connections and is available as a $65 option.
SOUL specifies that its copper header gaskets should not be reused once installed.
EMISSIONS / USE NOTE:
The SOUL Competition Headers remove the factory catalytic converters and are not CARB certified. SOUL identifies this product as intended for off-road use only and notes that it may not be legal for use on emissions-controlled vehicles.
Customers are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations before installation or use.

Product Description
The SOUL Valved Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 987.1 Boxster and Cayman owners who want a true change in character at the press of a button. With the valves closed, the system delivers a refined, sporty exhaust note with minimal cabin drone. Open the valves and the exhaust becomes substantially more aggressive, allowing much more of the naturally aspirated flat-six sound to come through.
SOUL developed the system around two distinct exhaust paths. With the valves closed, exhaust gases are routed through high-quality mufflers packed with durable sound-absorbing material. This helps keep the car comfortable during highway cruising and normal street driving, especially when paired with factory headers.
With the valves open, exhaust gases are allowed to exit through large 2.5-inch piping, substantially increasing volume and exhaust character. Perforations within the system keep the mufflers acoustically connected to the exhaust path, helping produce a fuller and more robust tone rather than simply making the car louder.
The SOUL Valved Exhaust also provides a meaningful reduction in weight. The complete system weighs approximately 30 lbs, compared with approximately 35 lbs for the factory exhaust components, saving approximately 5 lbs / 2.2 kg.
For owners looking for a more aggressive exhaust without giving up quiet cruising capability, the SOUL Valved Exhaust offers a strong balance of sound, control, weight reduction, and everyday usability.

VALVE OPERATION:
The SOUL Valved Exhaust includes a valve controller kit.
For vehicles without factory Porsche Sport Exhaust, the controller is required to operate the exhaust valves.
For vehicles equipped with factory PSE, the SOUL exhaust can retain factory exhaust-valve operation. The included controller can also be used to provide direct manual valve override rather than relying solely on Porsche's factory valve strategy.
This allows owners to retain quiet operation when desired while having immediate access to the more aggressive valves-open exhaust mode.
SOUND CHARACTER:
With the valves closed and factory headers installed, SOUL designed the system to provide a refined, sporty exhaust note with minimal highway drone.
Opening the valves substantially changes the character of the system, allowing exhaust gases to flow more freely through the large 2.5-inch path and producing a much more aggressive flat-six exhaust note.
The result is a genuine difference between the two modes rather than a subtle change in volume.
SOUL also offers alternate stainless steel and titanium tip configurations by special request. Titanium single-wall tips can save nearly one pound compared with stainless steel tips.
VALVED VS. PERFORMANCE EXHAUST:
The SOUL Valved Exhaust provides selectable sound control, allowing the driver to substantially reduce exhaust volume when desired while still having access to an aggressive valves-open exhaust mode.
The SOUL Performance Exhaust uses a fixed, non-valved configuration and delivers its more aggressive exhaust character at all times.
For frequent street use, highway driving, early-morning starts, or owners who simply want greater control over exhaust volume, the Valved Exhaust provides the more flexible solution. For owners who prefer a simpler fixed exhaust configuration, the Performance Exhaust remains the more straightforward option.
Product Description
The SOUL Performance Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 987.1 Boxster and Cayman owners who want substantially more naturally aspirated flat-six sound without sacrificing everyday drivability. The factory rear exhaust incorporates restrictive secondary catalytic converters, relatively small tubing, and heavy mufflers that suppress much of the character of the 987.1 engine.
SOUL replaces the factory rear exhaust with a freer-flowing system constructed from mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel and high-quality mufflers. The secondary catalytic converters are eliminated, reducing exhaust restriction and allowing substantially more of the flat-six exhaust note to come through under throttle.
Despite the increase in sound, SOUL specifically developed the system to remain refined during normal driving. The mufflers are designed to virtually eliminate objectionable drone during cruising and partial-throttle operation—even when the exhaust is paired with aftermarket catless headers. The result is a system that becomes aggressive when the engine is worked while remaining controlled around town and on the highway.
Weight reduction is another significant benefit. The complete SOUL system weighs approximately 21.7 lbs, compared with approximately 36.6 lbs for the factory rear exhaust components, reducing vehicle weight by approximately 15 lbs / 6.8 kg.
For owners looking for a simple, non-valved exhaust that emphasizes sound quality, reduced weight, and everyday usability, the SOUL Performance Exhaust offers an excellent balance between an aggressive flat-six experience and comfortable street manners.

PORSCHE SPORT EXHAUST / VALVE OPERATION:
The SOUL Performance Exhaust is a fixed, non-valved exhaust system.
Vehicles originally equipped with Porsche Sport Exhaust can use the SOUL Performance Exhaust, but the factory rear exhaust and its selectable valve functionality are replaced by the fixed SOUL system.
The SOUL Performance Exhaust is designed to provide its full exhaust character at all times while using its mufflers to control unwanted resonance and drone.
For customers who specifically want selectable quiet and aggressive exhaust modes, the SOUL Valved Exhaust System is the more appropriate configuration.
SECONDARY CATALYTIC CONVERTERS:
The factory 987.1 exhaust uses catalytic converters within the header assemblies as well as additional secondary catalytic converters farther downstream.
The SOUL Performance Exhaust removes the secondary catalytic converters contained within the factory rear exhaust while leaving the primary catalytic converters untouched when the vehicle retains its factory headers.
SOUL states that the Performance Exhaust is designed to operate without triggering a check engine light.
SOUL offers additional stainless steel and titanium tip configurations by special request. Titanium single-wall tips can reduce weight by nearly one pound compared with stainless steel tips.
EMISSIONS / USE NOTE:
This system removes the factory secondary catalytic converters and is not CARB certified. SOUL identifies the product as intended for off-road use only and notes that it may not be legal for use on emissions-controlled vehicles.
Customers are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations before installation or use.
Product Description
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers are designed for Porsche 987.1 Boxster and Cayman owners looking to improve exhaust flow, throttle response, and naturally aspirated flat-six sound while retaining catalytic converters. Replacing the restrictive factory header assemblies with properly sized long-tube runners, performance-oriented collectors, and premium high-flow catalysts creates a substantially more efficient exhaust path without moving to a fully catless configuration.
SOUL developed the system specifically for the 987.1 platform using 1.75-inch primary runners. Runner and collector sizing was optimized around the 3.4L engine while still providing meaningful improvements for the 2.7L flat-six. High-quality merge spikes within the collectors help smooth exhaust flow as the individual primary runners come together, improving efficiency through one of the most restrictive areas of the factory exhaust system.
At the center of the Street Header design are HJS 200-cell high-flow catalytic converters. HJS catalysts are known for excellent exhaust flow and durability, using a premium double-foil construction engineered to withstand demanding operating conditions. SOUL states that these catalysts are efficient enough to meet stringent EURO 3 emissions requirements while providing substantially greater flow than the factory catalytic converters and greatly reducing the likelihood of a catalyst-related check engine light.
The result is a freer-breathing naturally aspirated engine with improved response and a deeper, more aggressive flat-six exhaust note while retaining catalytic converters for a more street-oriented configuration than SOUL Competition Headers.

FITMENT:
Fits 2005–2008 Porsche 987.1 Boxster, Boxster S, Cayman, and Cayman S models
Compatible with 2.7L, 3.2L, and 3.4L naturally aspirated flat-six engines
HJS 200-CELL CATALYTIC CONVERTERS:
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers use HJS 200-cell high-flow catalytic converters rather than eliminating the catalysts entirely.
The HJS design combines a low-restriction 200-cell substrate with premium double-foil construction for durability under demanding operating conditions. This allows the headers to substantially improve exhaust flow while retaining catalytic converters and maintaining a more street-oriented configuration.
SOUL states that the HJS catalysts used in these headers are efficient enough to meet EURO 3 emissions requirements while greatly reducing the likelihood of a catalyst-related check engine light.
STREET VS. COMPETITION HEADERS:
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers retain HJS 200-cell high-flow catalytic converters while improving runner geometry, collector design, exhaust flow, throttle response, and flat-six sound.
The SOUL Competition Headers eliminate the catalytic converters entirely for the least restrictive exhaust path and a substantially more aggressive exhaust configuration.
For owners who want improved performance and sound while retaining high-flow catalytic converters, the Long Tube Street Headers provide the more street-oriented solution. For vehicles built around a fully catless exhaust configuration, the Competition Headers provide the more aggressive alternative.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT:
The HJS 200-cell catalytic converters used in these headers are specifically selected for their combination of high exhaust flow and emissions efficiency.
SOUL states that their efficiency greatly reduces the likelihood of a check engine light compared with a catless header configuration. Individual vehicle condition, emissions-system health, ECU calibration, and other modifications can affect catalyst monitoring, so DasMotoring does not guarantee that a check engine light can never occur.
EMISSIONS / USE NOTE:
Although these headers retain catalytic converters, customers are responsible for verifying compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal emissions regulations before installation or use.
Retention of catalytic converters does not necessarily mean an aftermarket exhaust component is approved for use on emissions-controlled vehicles in every jurisdiction.
Product Description
The SOUL Competition Headers are designed for Porsche 987.1 Boxster and Cayman owners looking to improve exhaust flow, engine response, sound, and durability while removing the restrictive factory catalytic converter assemblies. By replacing the heavy factory manifolds with a purpose-built catless header design, the system creates a freer-flowing exhaust path and allows substantially more of the naturally aspirated flat-six character to come through.
SOUL developed these headers using port-matched flanges, smooth-radius primary tubing, and performance-oriented collectors designed to improve the transition from the cylinder heads into the remainder of the exhaust system. The result is reduced exhaust restriction, sharper engine response, lower weight, and a significantly more aggressive exhaust note.
The headers are fabricated from mandrel-bent 14–16 gauge T304L stainless steel tubing and are designed as a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory header assemblies. Each set is fixture-tested and quality-checked prior to shipment to help ensure accurate fitment.
The SOUL Competition Headers also have a unique motorsport history on the 987.1 platform. After repeated factory header and catalytic-converter failures in PCA Spec Cayman competition, SOUL developed its Competition Headers as a durable alternative. SOUL part number POR.9871.COH was approved as a class-legal replacement under the Spec Cayman rules.

Compatible with 2.7L, 3.2L, and 3.4L naturally aspirated flat-six engines
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT / ECU TUNING:
The SOUL Competition Headers remove the factory catalytic converters and may trigger a check engine light as a result.
SOUL recommends an appropriate ECU calibration for vehicles using these headers to address catalyst-related fault codes. A performance calibration may also allow the engine to better take advantage of the increased exhaust flow provided by the catless configuration.
Optional O2 sensor spacers are available and may reduce the likelihood of catalyst-efficiency fault codes; however, O2 spacers should not be considered a guaranteed method of preventing a check engine light.
O2 SPACERS:
Optional O2 sensor spacers can be added to the Competition Headers at the time of purchase.
The spacers reposition the downstream oxygen sensors farther from the direct exhaust stream and may reduce the likelihood of catalyst-efficiency fault codes on some vehicles.
Results can vary depending on the vehicle and ECU calibration, and DasMotoring does not guarantee that O2 spacers will prevent a check engine light.
PCA SPEC CAYMAN:
SOUL originally developed these Competition Headers in response to repeated factory header and catalytic-converter failures experienced by competitors in the PCA Spec Cayman series.
The SOUL Competition Header, part number POR.9871.COH, was approved as a class-legal replacement for the factory exhaust manifolds under the Spec Cayman rules, providing racers with a more durable replacement backed by SOUL's Lifetime Warranty.
Competitors should always verify the current PCA Club Racing rulebook before competition, as class regulations can change over time.
EMISSIONS / USE NOTE:
The SOUL Competition Headers remove the factory catalytic converters and are not CARB certified. This product may not be legal for use on emissions-controlled vehicles and is intended for off-road use only.
Customers are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations before installation or use.

Driving Feel
A lightweight flywheel reduces rotating mass at the engine, allowing the engine to gain and lose RPM more quickly. The result is a sharper, more immediate connection between your right foot, the engine, and the gearbox. Rev-matched downshifts feel cleaner, throttle blips feel more natural, and the car takes on a more responsive, motorsport-style personality.
Because the flywheel is significantly lighter than the factory dual-mass flywheel setup, some additional drivetrain noise, gear rollover sound, or chatter may be present. This is normal for many lightweight flywheel conversions and is part of the more mechanical driving experience.
The best way to minimize NVH and gearbox chatter is to avoid lugging the engine. Drivers should never lug the engine to begin with, and this is especially important with a lightweight flywheel. Keeping the engine above approximately 2,000 rpm, or selecting a lower gear when climbing hills or accelerating from low speed, will help keep the drivetrain happier and reduce unwanted chatter. The higher the rpm, the less drivetrain chatter and NVH you will have.
Which Version Should I Buy?
AASCO offers several lightweight flywheel and clutch options across the Porsche Boxster, Cayman, Carrera, Turbo, and GT platforms. The correct choice depends on your chassis, engine, transmission, and clutch package.

If your 987.2 Boxster or Cayman has started to feel a little too slow or soulless, this is one of those upgrades that can reignite your love for the car and give it some of that 911 S/T-inspired character and flair.
We have run AASCO lightweight flywheels on our own manual Porsches for years through daily driving, traffic, backroad driving, and track use with excellent results.
This complete kit is a great choice for drivers looking for a more responsive, motorsport-inspired feel from their manual 987.2 Boxster or Cayman while also replacing the clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, and related hardware with a matched Sachs Performance clutch package. The AASCO flywheel is a lightweight steel design, which can be a nice balance for street-driven cars that want sharper response without going to the lightest possible flywheel setup.

Because the flywheel is lighter than the factory dual-mass flywheel setup, some additional drivetrain noise, gear rollover sound, or chatter may be present.
AASCO offers several similar-looking lightweight flywheel and clutch options for the 987.2 Boxster / Cayman platform. The correct choice depends on your engine, pressure plate configuration, and whether you want the flywheel only or a complete clutch package.
This listing is for the AASCO 106428-12-PKG complete kit. It is the right choice if you want the AASCO lightweight steel flywheel, Sachs Performance pressure plate, Sachs Performance clutch disc, release bearing, and installation hardware together as a matched package for your compatible 987.2 Boxster or Cayman manual.
How This Differs From 106422-12
The 106422-12 listing is a flywheel-only option for select 987.2 Boxster / Cayman applications using the factory OEM pressure plate setup.
This 106428-12-PKG listing is a complete kit that includes the AASCO lightweight steel flywheel along with the Sachs Performance pressure plate, Sachs Performance clutch disc, release bearing, and required installation hardware.
If your car is keeping the factory OEM pressure plate and you only need the flywheel, use the correct flywheel-only listing.
If your clutch is worn, your pressure plate is worn or unknown, or you want to convert to the matched Sachs Performance clutch setup, choose this 106428-12-PKG complete kit.
Good Candidates for This Complete Kit
This complete kit is generally intended for:

If you are unsure which version you need, contact us with your year, model, engine, transmission, and current clutch setup so we can help point you toward the correct AASCO option.
Installation Notes
AASCO notes that the larger portion of the clutch disc spring carrier must face toward the flywheel. If the clutch disc is installed backwards, the clutch diaphragm spring may contact the clutch disc, which can result in clutch failure and may not be covered under warranty.
Professional installation is recommended. However, there are DIY how-to guides linked below if you have the tools and equipment at home.
Important Notes
This listing is for the complete AASCO lightweight steel flywheel and Sachs Performance clutch package listed under part number 106428-12-PKG.
Fitment may depend on the vehicle’s model year, engine, transmission, and clutch / pressure plate configuration. Always confirm compatibility with your exact vehicle before ordering.
Before installation, compare the new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, and hardware to the original components being replaced.

Which Version Should I Buy?
AASCO offers several similar-looking lightweight flywheel and clutch options for the 987 Boxster / Cayman platform. The correct choice depends on your chassis, engine, and pressure plate configuration.
This listing is for the AASCO 106422-12 flywheel only. It is the right choice if your 987.2 Boxster S, Boxster Spyder, Cayman S, or Cayman R is retaining the factory OEM pressure plate setup.
How This Differs From 106412-11
The 106412-11 flywheel is generally used for earlier 986 / 987.1 Boxster and Cayman applications.
The 106422-12 flywheel is for later 987.2 direct-injection applications using the factory OEM pressure plate setup.
Do not assume the earlier 106412-11 flywheel is correct for a 987.2 car. For compatible 987.2 applications using the factory OEM pressure plate, use 106422-12.
OEM Pressure Plate vs. Sachs Performance Package
For 987.2 Boxster / Cayman applications, the correct AASCO option depends on the clutch and pressure plate setup:
If your 987.2 Boxster / Cayman is using the factory OEM pressure plate, use 106422-12.
If your 987.2 Boxster / Cayman is being converted to the Sachs Performance clutch / pressure plate setup, use the complete 106423-12-PKG kit instead.
Good Candidates for This Flywheel-Only Listing
This flywheel-only listing is generally intended for:
987.2 Boxster S manual applications using the factory OEM pressure plate
987.2 Boxster Spyder manual applications using the factory OEM pressure plate
987.2 Cayman S manual applications using the factory OEM pressure plate
987.2 Cayman R manual applications using the factory OEM pressure plate
Cars that already have a compatible factory pressure plate setup in good condition
Cars replacing an existing AASCO 106422-12 flywheel
Drivers who want the lightweight flywheel only rather than a complete clutch package
When to Buy the Complete Kit Instead
Choose a complete AASCO flywheel and Sachs Performance clutch kit instead of this flywheel-only listing if:
Your clutch is worn or due for replacement
Your pressure plate is worn, heat-spotted, damaged, or unknown
You are converting from the factory pressure plate setup to the Sachs Performance clutch / pressure plate setup
You want everything matched together as a complete flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, and hardware package
For compatible 987.2 Boxster / Cayman applications converting to the Sachs Performance clutch / pressure plate setup, use 106423-12-PKG instead.
If you are unsure which version you need, contact us with your year, model, engine, transmission, and current clutch setup so we can help point you toward the correct AASCO option.
Important Notes
This listing is for the flywheel only. Clutch components, pressure plate, release bearing, hardware, and related installation parts are not included unless specifically stated.

Upgrade your manual Porsche 987 Boxster or Cayman with a complete AASCO billet aluminum lightweight flywheel and Sachs Performance clutch package designed to reduce rotating mass, dramatically improve engine response, and refresh the clutch system at the same time. This kit pairs the AASCO 13 lb lightweight flywheel with compatible Sachs Performance clutch components for select Porsche 987 Boxster, Boxster S, Cayman, and Cayman S manual applications.
Compared to the heavier factory 27 lb dual-mass flywheel setup, the AASCO lightweight flywheel reduces rotating engine mass by approximately 14 lb and helps the engine rev more freely, respond more sharply, and feel more alive during downshifts, heel-toe shifting, and spirited driving.
At DasMotoring, this is one of our favorite upgrades for a manual Porsche.
