The SOUL Street Package is a complete performance exhaust solution developed specifically for 2012–2016 Porsche 991.1 Carrera Base models without Porsche Sport Exhaust / PSE.

The package combines SOUL's Long Tube Street Headers with its Valved Performance Exhaust System and dedicated Valve Controller, upgrading the exhaust from the cylinder heads through the rear of the vehicle while retaining a high-flow catted configuration and true driver-controlled sound adjustment.

Upstream, SOUL's long-tube headers replace the restrictive factory manifold and catalyst assemblies with performance-oriented runners, merge collectors, and high-flow catalytic converters. Downstream, the Valved Performance Exhaust provides a straight, unrestricted 2.5-inch valves-open path with an X-pipe and acoustically tuned Helmholtz resonators.

Close the valves and exhaust is redirected through the original Porsche side mufflers for a significantly quieter and more refined driving experience. Open the valves and the system bypasses those mufflers for dramatically increased volume, stronger throttle response, additional crackles and burbles, and an aggressive naturally aspirated flat-six soundtrack.

For Base Carrera owners who did not receive PSE from the factory, the included SOUL Valve Controller provides the dual-personality exhaust experience Porsche did not originally offer.

LONG TUBE STREET HEADERS:

The Street Package begins with SOUL's Long Tube Street Headers.

The factory 991.1 Carrera manifolds and catalyst assemblies are replaced with a performance-oriented long-tube design engineered to improve:

• Exhaust scavenging

• Low- and midrange torque

• Throttle response

• High-RPM breathing

• Overall exhaust flow

• Naturally aspirated engine sound

The long-tube architecture provides a more efficient route from the cylinder heads into the downstream exhaust while retaining catalytic converters for a more street-oriented configuration than SOUL's Competition Headers.

DESIGNED FOR THE 3.4L CARRERA:

The Base 991.1 Carrera uses Porsche's naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six.

SOUL specifically developed its 991.1 header architecture to work effectively with this engine, providing increased exhaust flow without sacrificing the gas velocity necessary for responsive street performance.

For the 3.4L engine, the complete Street Package is designed to improve:

• Low-RPM response

• Midrange acceleration

• Throttle response

• High-RPM breathing

• Overall engine character

• Exhaust sound throughout the rev range

HIGH-FLOW CATALYTIC CONVERTERS:

Unlike the Competition Header configuration, the Street Package retains catalytic converters.

The current SOUL Long Tube Street Header specification uses 300-cell performance catalytic converters designed to reduce restriction compared with the original Porsche catalyst assemblies.

SOUL's current catalyst architecture incorporates:

• 300-cell construction

• Custom-specified precious-metal coating

• Triple-metal-matrix core construction

• Increased exhaust-flow capability

This allows the package to deliver much of the flow benefit of an upgraded header system while retaining a catted configuration.

VALVED PERFORMANCE EXHAUST:

Downstream of the Street Headers, SOUL's Valved Performance Exhaust provides two distinctly different operating modes.

The system uses:

• 2.5-inch performance tubing

• Smooth-radius bends

• X-pipe crossover

• Helmholtz anti-drone resonators

• Vacuum-operated exhaust valves

• Original Porsche side mufflers as the quiet path

The result is significantly greater sound and flow with the valves open while preserving a genuinely useful quiet mode.

VALVES OPEN:

With the valves open, exhaust gases are given a straight and unrestricted path through the 2.5-inch performance exhaust.

The factory side mufflers are bypassed.

Expect:

Close the exhaust valves and gases are redirected through the factory Porsche side mufflers.

The original mufflers remain in the vehicle specifically to provide a highly effective quiet path.

• Minimal undesirable drone

• Comfortable highway cruising

• Retention of recognizable flat-six character

The difference between valves-open and valves-closed operation gives the system its wide range of usable sound levels.

RETAINS THE FACTORY SIDE MUFFLERS:

SOUL's non-PSE solution cleverly incorporates the original Porsche side mufflers instead of discarding them.

Included secondary piping connects the factory mufflers to the new valved exhaust architecture.

The system therefore effectively provides:

Direct 2.5-inch performance exhaust path

Valves Closed:
Factory side-muffler path

This allows a Base Carrera without PSE to gain true selectable sound control.

FACTORY SIDE-MUFFLER MODIFICATION REQUIRED:

Installation requires cutting the factory side-muffler piping.

SOUL's included secondary pipes are then clamped to the modified factory muffler outlets and incorporated into the new exhaust system.

The original mufflers themselves remain functional.

Because cutting is required, this package should not be represented as a completely reversible clamp-on modification.

X-PIPE DESIGN:

SOUL incorporates an X-pipe into the rear exhaust system to allow exhaust pulses from the opposing cylinder banks to interact.

The crossover helps:

• Smooth the exhaust note

• Improve bank-to-bank blending

• Promote exhaust scavenging

• Increase volumetric-efficiency potential

• Produce a more cohesive flat-six tone

The X-pipe remains acoustically beneficial in both open and closed operating modes.

HELMHOLTZ ANTI-DRONE RESONATORS:

Higher-flowing headers combined with an aggressive rear exhaust can create undesirable resonance if the system is not acoustically engineered as a complete package.

SOUL identified approximately:

3,000–3,500 RPM

as an inherent resonance range for the 991.1 Carrera.

This is particularly important for PDK-equipped vehicles that may spend extended periods operating within this RPM range.

SOUL therefore uses tuned Helmholtz resonators to target undesirable frequencies without forcing the primary exhaust gases through additional restrictive mufflers.

This helps maintain:

• Comfortable highway cruising

• Reduced steady-state drone

• Smooth valves-open operation

• Smooth transition between quiet and aggressive modes

• High exhaust-flow capability

SOUL VALVE CONTROLLER:

Because this package is specifically designed for vehicles without factory PSE, SOUL includes its own Valve Controller Kit.

The driver can control the exhaust valves using:

• Included wireless remotes

or

• The vehicle's HomeLink system

HomeLink integration requires two available programmable HomeLink buttons.

The controller gives the driver direct control over the exhaust valves rather than relying on Porsche's factory PSE programming.

VALVE CONTROLLER INSTALLATION:

Installation of the valve-control system requires additional work beyond the mechanical exhaust installation.

SOUL specifies:

• Rear bumper removal

• Locating a switched 12V power source

• Electrical connection to the valve controller

• Installation of vacuum lines

• Connection of the valve-control hardware

• Configuration of the included remotes or optional HomeLink controls

Professional installation is strongly recommended.

PERFORMANCE:

SOUL's Long Tube Street Headers have demonstrated particularly strong gains through the usable midrange.

Manufacturer testing of the Street Headers has shown approximately:

+9 wheel horsepower at peak power

+13 lb-ft at peak torque

with improvements exceeding approximately:

+25 wheel horsepower

and

+25 lb-ft

around 3,000 RPM in portions of the dyno curve.

Those figures relate to SOUL's header testing and should not be interpreted as a separate dyno test of the complete Street Package.

SOUL has also published testing of the rear Valved Performance Exhaust in combination with an ECU tune, BMC filters, and 93-octane fuel, but those larger results include multiple modifications and should not be represented as exhaust-only gains.

THROTTLE RESPONSE:

By combining the long-tube header architecture with the freer-flowing rear exhaust, the Street Package addresses restriction at both ends of the factory exhaust system.

The SOUL Street Package retains catalytic converters but replaces the original Porsche catalyst assemblies with aftermarket performance components.
