Porsche 991.1 Carrera S / Carrera 4S / GTS SOUL Street Package
Product Description
The SOUL Street Package is a complete performance exhaust solution for Porsche 991.1 Carrera S, Carrera 4S, and GTS models, combining SOUL's Long Tube Street Headers with its Valved Performance Exhaust System for a comprehensive upgrade from the cylinder heads through the rear exhaust.
The package replaces the restrictive factory header and catalyst assemblies with performance-oriented long-tube headers and high-flow catalytic converters, while the rear exhaust provides a straight-through 2.5-inch valves-open flow path, X-pipe crossover, and acoustically tuned Helmholtz resonators.
With the valves open, the system delivers dramatically greater flat-six sound, stronger throttle response, increased exhaust flow, and additional crackles and burbles. Close the valves and exhaust is routed through the factory Porsche side mufflers for a significantly quieter and more refined driving experience.
Vehicles equipped with factory Porsche Sport Exhaust / PSE retain the original Porsche exhaust-valve controls. Compatible Carrera S / GTS vehicles without PSE can instead be equipped with SOUL's dedicated Valve Controller Kit.

LONG TUBE STREET HEADERS:
The Street Package begins by replacing the factory Porsche header and catalyst assemblies with SOUL's Long Tube Street Headers.
The long-tube architecture is designed to improve:
Exhaust scavenging
Exhaust-gas velocity
Low- and midrange torque
Throttle response
High-RPM breathing
Naturally aspirated flat-six sound
Overall exhaust-flow capacity
SOUL's Street Headers retain catalytic converters rather than converting the vehicle to a completely catless configuration, making this the more street-oriented complete exhaust package.
DESIGNED AROUND THE 3.8L ENGINE:
The Carrera S, Carrera 4S, and 991.1 GTS use Porsche's naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six.
SOUL's long-tube header architecture was specifically developed with the flow requirements of this engine in mind.
The combination of optimized header runners and a freer-flowing rear exhaust helps the 3.8L engine breathe more efficiently throughout the usable RPM range.
Expected benefits include:
Sharper throttle response
Greater midrange torque
Improved high-RPM breathing
Reduced exhaust restriction
Stronger engine response
More prominent naturally aspirated flat-six character
HIGH-FLOW CATALYTIC CONVERTERS:
The Street Package retains a catted exhaust configuration.
SOUL uses large, high-flow performance catalytic converters to reduce restriction compared with the original Porsche catalyst assemblies while maintaining a more street-oriented configuration than its Competition Headers.
The catalyst sections are designed to complement the long-tube runner architecture rather than becoming a major restriction immediately downstream of the collectors.
VALVED PERFORMANCE EXHAUST:
Downstream of the headers, SOUL's Valved Performance Exhaust gives the Carrera two distinct exhaust personalities.
The rear system incorporates:
2.5-inch performance piping
Smooth-radius bends
X-pipe crossover
Tuned Helmholtz resonators
Vacuum-operated exhaust valves
Factory Porsche side mufflers as the quieter exhaust route
This provides substantially greater sound and flow when desired while retaining useful cruising refinement.
VALVES OPEN:
With the valves open, exhaust gases are given a straight and essentially unrestricted path through the 2.5-inch performance exhaust.
Expect:
Dramatically increased exhaust volume
Stronger naturally aspirated flat-six sound
Sharper throttle-related character
Greater high-RPM intensity
Additional crackles and burbles during deceleration
More immediate engine response
Cup Car-inspired exhaust character
Significantly more aggression than the factory PSE system
This is the system's full performance mode.
VALVES CLOSED:
With the valves closed, exhaust is routed through the original Porsche side mufflers.
The factory mufflers continue to provide substantial sound attenuation, allowing the car to retain a much more restrained personality.
Expect:
Significantly lower overall volume
Refined cruising characteristics
Reduced cabin presence
Minimal undesirable drone
Comfortable highway operation
Retention of recognizable flat-six sound
This wide separation between quiet and aggressive operation is a major advantage of the Street Package.
FACTORY PSE INTEGRATION:
Vehicles already equipped with Porsche Sport Exhaust reuse Porsche's original valve-control system.
This configuration retains:
Factory PSE controls
Factory PSE button functionality
Porsche's existing vacuum-control architecture
Factory-style valve operation
No separate SOUL Valve Controller requirement
This is the simplest installation option for PSE-equipped Carrera S and GTS models.
NON-PSE S / GTS CONFIGURATION:
Compatible Carrera S / GTS models without factory PSE can use the same Street Package with SOUL's Valve Controller Kit.
The Valve Controller adds independent exhaust-valve control to vehicles that do not already have the necessary Porsche control system.
This allows non-PSE customers to retain the same basic:
Valves Open / Aggressive
and
Valves Closed / Refined
functionality as PSE-equipped vehicles.
VALVE CONTROLLER INSTALLATION:
Installing the SOUL Valve Controller on a non-PSE car requires additional work beyond the basic mechanical exhaust installation.
SOUL specifies that installation requires:
Rear bumper removal
Locating and tapping an appropriate switched 12V power source
Electrical installation of the controller
Installation of vacuum lines
Connection to the exhaust valves
Professional installation is strongly recommended for the Valve Controller configuration.
X-PIPE CROSSOVER:
The rear exhaust incorporates a performance X-pipe that allows exhaust pulses from the opposing cylinder banks to interact.
Benefits include:
Smoother exhaust tone
Greater left-to-right bank blending
Improved exhaust-scavenging potential
Improved volumetric-efficiency potential
More cohesive naturally aspirated sound
The X-pipe contributes to sound quality with the valves both open and closed.
HELMHOLTZ ANTI-DRONE RESONATORS:
SOUL identified approximately:
3,000–3,500 RPM
as an inherent resonance range on the 991.1 Carrera when higher-flowing exhaust components are installed.
This can become particularly noticeable on PDK-equipped cars that spend significant time cruising within that RPM range.
SOUL incorporates tuned Helmholtz resonators to target those undesirable frequencies.
Unlike a conventional muffler, the Helmholtz chambers attenuate specific sound frequencies without forcing the main exhaust stream through additional restrictive material.
This helps provide:
Reduced highway drone
Comfortable PDK cruising
Smoother valves-open operation
Smoother transition between valve positions
High exhaust-flow capability
PACKAGE-LEVEL DYNO RESULTS:
SOUL conducted Dynojet testing of the Street Package hardware on a 991.1 Base Carrera.
With the Street Package hardware installed and without an ECU tune, SOUL recorded maximum gains of approximately:
+26.5 wheel horsepower
and
+36 lb-ft of torque
at approximately:
4,250 RPM
SOUL then added ECU calibration and reported total gains of approximately:
+44.1 wheel horsepower
and
+50.13 lb-ft of torque
The larger tuned figures represent the combined Street Package plus ECU calibration, not hardware-only gains.
Because SOUL's published test vehicle was a Base Carrera rather than a 3.8L Carrera S or GTS, these figures should be treated as manufacturer test data demonstrating the package's performance potential rather than guaranteed S/GTS gains.
THROTTLE RESPONSE & MIDRANGE PERFORMANCE:
The Street Package addresses restriction at both major ends of the exhaust system.
The long-tube headers improve flow immediately out of the engine, while the freer-flowing valved rear exhaust reduces restriction farther downstream.
The combined system is designed to improve:
Throttle response
Low- and midrange acceleration
Exhaust scavenging
High-RPM breathing
Naturally aspirated engine character
Overall driving engagement
WITH FACTORY PSE:
For factory-PSE cars, the Street Package retains the familiar Porsche valve-control experience while dramatically increasing the difference between the exhaust modes.
With the valves closed, the car remains restrained enough for normal driving.
With the valves open, the freer-flowing headers and straight-through rear exhaust substantially increase volume and character.
WITH SOUL STREET HEADERS + VALVES OPEN:
The complete package is significantly more aggressive than installing either the rear exhaust or headers alone.
Expect:
Strong naturally aspirated engine presence
More pronounced midrange growl
Greater high-RPM wail
Increased crackles and burbles
More immediate throttle-related sound
Cup Car-inspired character
WITH THE VALVES CLOSED:
The factory side mufflers continue providing useful sound attenuation despite the freer-flowing long-tube headers upstream.
The car therefore retains a meaningful quiet mode for:
Highway trips
Residential areas
Early-morning driving
Long-distance cruising
Situations where maximum exhaust volume is undesirable
STREET PACKAGE VS. INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS:
The Street Package combines:
SOUL Long Tube Street Headers
with
SOUL Valved Performance Exhaust
Rather than upgrading the exhaust one section at a time, this provides a matched performance package from the cylinder heads through the rear exhaust.
The combination delivers:
High-flow catted headers
Long-tube exhaust architecture
Valved sound control
2.5-inch valves-open flow path
X-pipe crossover
Helmholtz anti-drone technology
Factory PSE integration or optional SOUL valve control
STREET PACKAGE VS. COMPETITION CONFIGURATION:
Street Package
High-flow catalytic converters
Long-tube headers
Valved rear exhaust
2.5-inch valves-open path
Quiet mode retained
Factory PSE compatibility
Better street-oriented usability
Lower catalyst-related diagnostic concerns
Competition Configuration
Catless headers
Maximum upstream flow
Greater exhaust volume
Reduced catalyst-related heat
Greater emissions and diagnostic considerations
More competition-focused character
For a street-driven Carrera S or GTS, the Street Package provides a strong balance between performance, sound, and everyday usability.
EXHAUST TIP OPTIONS:
Four tip configurations are available:
Reuse Factory Tips
Retains the original Porsche exhaust outlets for the most factory-like exterior appearance.
Polished Chrome
Bright polished finish for a traditional Porsche-inspired appearance.
Carbon Fiber
A darker, motorsport-inspired finish.
Black Chrome
Premium dark metallic finish for a more understated and aggressive rear appearance.
EMISSIONS NOTE:
The SOUL Street Package retains catalytic converters but replaces the original Porsche catalyst assemblies with aftermarket performance components.
The system is not CARB certified.
Customers are responsible for determining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local emissions regulations before installation or use.
