Porsche 992.1 GT3 / GT3 RS SOUL Valved Exhaust Package
Product Description
The SOUL Valved Exhaust Package is a complete header-and-rear-exhaust solution for the Porsche 992.1 GT3 and GT3 RS, combining long-tube performance headers with a purpose-built valved rear exhaust system for substantially improved flow, sound, and driver control.
SOUL replaces the restrictive factory header architecture with long-tube runners and CNC-machined merge collectors, then routes exhaust into interchangeable catted or catless sections before reaching the rear valved exhaust. With the valves open, exhaust flows through a full 3-inch X-pipe path for maximum flow and a higher-pitched, aggressive flat-six wail. With the valves closed, gases are routed through a secondary path and bespoke SOUL muffler to reduce cabin presence and drone while retaining considerably more character than the factory system.
The result is a complete exhaust package that combines the response and flow benefits of performance headers with meaningful factory-style valve control—comfortable enough for normal driving while delivering a dramatically more aggressive sound when the engine is pushed. SOUL Performance Products

LONG-TUBE HEADER DESIGN:
The SOUL Valved Exhaust Package replaces the factory headers rather than connecting only to the stock manifolds.
The factory system must accommodate emissions hardware, mass-production requirements, sound regulations, packaging constraints, and the large connection into the original rear muffler.
SOUL's long-tube design allows the primary runners and collectors to be optimized around exhaust flow and performance instead.
The headers feed directly into the interchangeable catted or catless sections before reaching the valved rear exhaust, creating a cohesive header-back system rather than combining an aftermarket rear muffler with restrictive factory manifolds.
CNC MERGE COLLECTORS:
The headers use dedicated CNC-machined merge collectors to smoothly combine the individual primary runners.
Collector geometry is particularly important on the GT3's naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine because exhaust-pulse management can influence scavenging, engine response, midrange performance, and high-RPM breathing.
SOUL designed the collector architecture as part of the complete system rather than simply increasing tubing diameter.
VALVES OPEN:
When the factory-controlled valves open, exhaust is allowed to flow through the system's 3-inch primary piping and X-pipe.
This configuration provides:
Maximum available exhaust flow
Significantly greater overall exhaust volume
Higher-pitched flat-six character
Stronger mechanical engine tone
Aggressive high-RPM wail
Smooth blending of the two cylinder banks through the X-pipe
The system is designed to become increasingly aggressive as the factory valve strategy opens the exhaust at higher RPM.
VALVES CLOSED:
With the valves closed, exhaust is routed through the secondary flow path and SOUL's bespoke muffler.
The muffler uses straight-through perforated tubing rather than forcing exhaust through a highly restrictive chambered design.
Sound energy passes through the perforations into the surrounding packing material, while an internal X-pipe blends flow from both cylinder banks.
This configuration is designed to provide:
Reduced cabin presence
Lower cruising volume
Smoother low-RPM sound
Reduced drone below approximately 3,000 RPM
More refined sound than a muffler-less Race Exhaust
Meaningful sound separation between casual and aggressive driving
FACTORY ELECTRONIC VALVE CONTROL:
The 992 GT3 uses electronically actuated exhaust valves.
SOUL states that the factory programming generally keeps the valves closed below approximately 4,000 RPM, gradually opens them between approximately 4,000 and 5,000 RPM, and reaches fully open operation around 5,000 RPM.
The SOUL system retains this electronically controlled behavior.
The included hardware is important because simply relocating, disconnecting, or improperly mounting the factory valve actuators can create check engine lights and performance-related problems.
For owners who want the valves commanded 100% open regardless of RPM or throttle strategy, an appropriate ECU calibration can be used to alter the factory valve logic.
SOUND CHARACTER:
The Valved Exhaust Package is designed to bridge the gap between a touring-friendly exhaust and SOUL's significantly more aggressive Race Exhaust.
Expect:
More exhaust presence during normal driving
Higher-pitched flat-six tone
Greater mechanical engine character
Smoother exhaust quality at lower RPM
Reasonable cabin presence below approximately 4,000 RPM
Noticeable difference between valves-closed and valves-open operation
Aggressive high-RPM wail as the valves open
Greater refinement than a muffler-less race system
With the valves closed, the system remains noticeably more pronounced than stock but is designed to stay controlled.
As RPM rises and the valves open, the system transitions into a much more aggressive motorsport-oriented sound.
COMPETITION / CATLESS CONFIGURATION:
The Competition configuration eliminates the catalytic converters entirely.
This provides:
Maximum exhaust flow
Maximum sound
Greatest track-focused character
Reduced exhaust restriction
Most aggressive high-RPM exhaust note
Ability to convert later to the catted configuration using the modular catalyst sections
Removing the catalytic converters can trigger catalyst-efficiency-related diagnostic trouble codes and a check engine light.
SOUL recommends an appropriate custom ECU calibration when necessary for track-use applications.
CATTED CONFIGURATION:
The catted configuration incorporates SOUL's current-production high-flow performance catalytic converters into the exhaust system.
This configuration:
Retains catalytic converters
Reduces overall exhaust volume compared with the catless version
Maintains the full valved-exhaust architecture
Retains the long-tube headers and high-flow X-pipe design
Allows later conversion to the Competition configuration
SOUL's current construction specification lists a SOUL-designed 300-cell catalytic converter with a custom-specified precious-metal coating and triple-metal-matrix core. SOUL Performance Products
MODULAR CATTED / CATLESS SECTIONS:
The catalyst sections are interchangeable.
This means an owner can purchase the system in one configuration and later change between:
Competition / Catless
and
High-Flow Catted
without replacing the headers, rear valved exhaust, or exhaust tips.
This is particularly useful for GT3 owners who want a quieter catted configuration for normal use but may want the additional flow and sound of a catless configuration for closed-course events.
EXHAUST TIP OPTIONS:
Two 4-inch single-wall tip styles are available:
Slash Cut Single Wall
Straight Cut Single Wall
Each style is offered in:
Signature Satin
Brushed
Satin Black
The exhaust uses a modular tip plate similar in concept to SOUL's previous-generation GT3 systems, allowing the tip assemblies to be changed independently of the exhaust itself.
VALVED PACKAGE VS. RACE EXHAUST:
The SOUL Valved Exhaust Package and Race Exhaust share the same general philosophy of replacing the restrictive factory headers and exhaust architecture, but they target different priorities.
Valved Exhaust Package
Retains functional electronic exhaust valves
Bespoke muffler for quieter operation
Reduced cruising drone
Strong difference between casual and high-RPM driving
Better suited to mixed street and track use
Race Exhaust
Non-valved
No primary muffler
Lower weight
Maximum exhaust volume
More consistently aggressive character
Better suited to owners prioritizing track use, maximum sound, and minimum weight
EUROPEAN-SPEC VEHICLES:
SOUL lists European-specification GT3 and GT3 RS models as physically compatible.
Because these vehicles use different emissions hardware and diagnostic strategies, SOUL states that European applications must be paired with an appropriate OBD device or ECU calibration to address resulting check engine lights.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT:
The Competition / Catless configuration may trigger a check engine light because the factory catalytic converters are removed.
SOUL recommends an appropriate custom ECU calibration where necessary for closed-course use.
The catted configuration reduces the likelihood of catalyst-related diagnostic issues but replaces the factory emissions hardware and should not be treated as guaranteeing OEM-equivalent emissions-monitoring behavior.
EMISSIONS / COMPETITION USE NOTE:
The SOUL Valved Exhaust Package replaces factory emissions components and is not CARB certified.
The Competition configuration completely removes the catalytic converters.
The catted configuration replaces the factory catalysts with aftermarket high-flow units.
SOUL identifies this product for closed-course competition use only where required.
