Porsche 992.1 Turbo / Turbo S / Sport Classic / Dakar SOUL Performance Exhaust System
Product Description
The SOUL Performance Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 992.1 Turbo-platform owners looking for maximum exhaust flow, substantially increased turbocharger sound, and an aggressive performance-oriented exhaust character.
Unlike a valved rear exhaust, the SOUL Performance Exhaust uses a single unrestricted flow path built around full 3-inch tubing. Eliminating the quieter secondary path required by a valved system allows SOUL to maximize available exhaust flow and sound throughout the entire RPM range.
Two configurations are available. The Street Performance Exhaust incorporates SOUL's current-production high-flow catalytic converters for owners who want to retain a catted exhaust configuration. The Competition Performance Exhaust completely eliminates the catalytic converters for maximum flow, reduced weight, turbocharger sound, and exhaust volume.
At the center of the system is SOUL's proprietary cast 3-inch X-pipe, which maintains the full internal diameter through the crossover rather than narrowing where the two exhaust banks merge. Two straight-through resonators and tuned Helmholtz anti-drone chambers help refine the tone and reduce unwanted cabin resonance while maintaining the aggressive character expected from a performance-focused 992 Turbo.

NON-VALVED PERFORMANCE DESIGN:
The SOUL Performance Exhaust is specifically designed around a single high-flow exhaust path.
A valved exhaust must incorporate both a louder primary path and a quieter secondary path. Even when the valves are open, the additional architecture can introduce compromises in tubing diameter, exhaust routing, or residual flow through the muffled section.
SOUL eliminates that secondary path entirely.
This allows the Performance Exhaust to maintain a full 3-inch flow path from the catalyst sections through the X-pipe and rear exhaust, maximizing available flow and sound.
This system is particularly well suited to owners prioritizing:
Maximum exhaust flow
Maximum turbocharger sound
Increased performance potential
Aggressive exhaust character
High-horsepower builds
A consistent exhaust note without valve intervention
Owners who prioritize a significantly quieter cruising mode should consider a valved exhaust configuration instead.
3-INCH X-PIPE DESIGN:
The factory 992 Turbo exhaust architecture is limited to approximately 2.75-inch tubing.
SOUL increases the complete Performance Exhaust to a full 3-inch diameter.
Rather than creating the X-pipe by cutting and welding conventional bends together—which can reduce effective internal diameter at the crossover—SOUL uses a cast X-pipe assembly.
The casting allows SOUL to preserve the full 3-inch flow area while lengthening and smoothing the crossover.
Blending the two cylinder banks through the elongated X-pipe helps produce a smoother and higher-pitched exhaust character while maintaining maximum exhaust-flow capacity.
RESONATORS & DRONE CONTROL:
During development, SOUL initially tested four straight-through resonators similar to those used on its earlier 996, 997, and 991 Turbo exhaust systems.
Testing showed that the 992 platform could support additional sound, so the production Performance Exhaust uses two straight-through resonators.
This retains sufficient refinement while allowing more overall exhaust volume to reach the driver.
The 992 platform also develops a natural resonance range around approximately 2,000–2,400 RPM, particularly as exhaust restriction is reduced.
SOUL developed tuned Helmholtz anti-drone chambers specifically around these frequencies.
The chambers substantially reduce unwanted resonance, but SOUL does not claim that drone is completely eliminated. This remains an intentionally aggressive exhaust system.
SOUND CHARACTER:
The SOUL Performance Exhaust dramatically increases the character of the 992.1 Turbo.
Expect:
Significantly greater overall exhaust volume
Increased turbocharger spool
Increased turbocharger whistle
Stronger flat-six exhaust presence
More mechanical feedback
A ripping exhaust growl as RPM increases
A smoother, higher-pitched tone than separated-bank exhaust designs
More pronounced burbles during deceleration in Sport mode
Increased cabin presence
Reduced—but not completely eliminated—drone
The Competition / Catless configuration provides the most dramatic change, with substantially greater turbo whistle and induction-like sound.
The Street / High-Flow Catted configuration retains catalytic converters and provides a somewhat more restrained overall character while remaining substantially more aggressive than the factory exhaust.
STREET PERFORMANCE EXHAUST:
The Street configuration combines the complete 3-inch Performance Exhaust architecture with SOUL's current-production high-flow catalytic converters.
This provides:
Full 3-inch turbo-back exhaust flow
High-flow catalytic converters
Increased turbocharger sound
Increased flat-six exhaust character
Reduced restriction compared with the factory exhaust
Aggressive non-valved sound
A catted exhaust configuration
Current-production catalyst technology developed to avoid catalyst-related check engine lights under normal operating conditions
Earlier SOUL 992 Sport Catalytic Converters used HJS catalyst cores. Current-production systems use an updated performance catalyst that SOUL has extensively tested for sound, performance, and diagnostic compatibility.
COMPETITION PERFORMANCE EXHAUST:
The Competition configuration completely eliminates the catalytic converters.
This provides:
Maximum exhaust flow
Maximum turbocharger sound
Greatest overall exhaust volume
Lowest exhaust restriction
Maximum available weight reduction
Most aggressive flat-six character
The complete Competition system weighs approximately 36.45 lbs, compared with approximately 42.95 lbs for the factory exhaust components.
Approximate weight savings: 6.5 lbs / 2.9 kg
Because the catalytic converters are completely removed, catalyst-related diagnostic trouble codes are possible.
VALVE SIMULATOR BRACKETS:
The factory 992 Turbo uses electronically controlled exhaust-valve actuators.
These actuators cannot simply be unplugged when converting to a non-valved exhaust system. Doing so can cause diagnostic faults and limp mode.
The electronic actuators also cannot simply be removed from the factory mechanical valve bodies and left electrically connected.
SOUL therefore includes dedicated valve simulator brackets.
The brackets provide the factory electronic actuators with mechanical start and stop positions that mimic normal factory valve movement, allowing the vehicle electronics to recognize expected actuator operation even though the SOUL exhaust itself contains no valves.
SOUL designed the supplied brackets to prevent valve-related check engine lights and limp-mode operation.
POWER / DYNO DEVELOPMENT:
SOUL worked with World Motorsports to test a high-output 992 Turbo development vehicle using the Competition Performance Exhaust System.
The development configuration included:
SOUL Competition Performance Exhaust System
Upgraded headers
CSF intercoolers
Upgraded Pure Turbos
M-Engineering ECU calibration
91-octane fuel
On a Mustang dyno, SOUL reports peak gains of approximately:
+206 wheel horsepower
+83 lb-ft of torque
with significant gains throughout the RPM range.
These figures represent the complete modified vehicle package and should not be interpreted as horsepower gains produced by the SOUL exhaust alone.
STREET VS. COMPETITION:
Street – High-Flow Catalytic Converters
Retains catalytic converters
Full 3-inch flow path
Non-valved Performance Exhaust architecture
Increased turbocharger sound
More street-oriented of the two configurations
Current-production catalyst technology
Designed around no catalyst-related CEL under normal operating conditions
Competition – No Catalytic Converters
Completely catless
Full 3-inch flow path
Maximum exhaust flow
Maximum turbocharger and exhaust sound
Approximately 6.5 lbs lighter than the factory exhaust components
Catalyst-related diagnostic codes are possible
Most competition-focused configuration
SPORT CLASSIC / DAKAR COMPATIBILITY:
SOUL specifically includes the 992 Sport Classic and 992 Dakar within the fitment of the Performance Exhaust System.
These models use compatible turbocharged 992 exhaust architecture and do not require separate exhaust-system variants.
US / EUROPEAN MARKET COMPATIBILITY:
US-Market Vehicles
The Performance Exhaust is designed for US-market 992 Turbo-platform vehicles without Gasoline Particulate Filters.
European-Market Vehicles
SOUL states that the system also physically fits applicable European-specification vehicles.
However, European applications must be paired with an appropriate OBD device or ECU calibration to address resulting check engine lights associated with the different emissions hardware and monitoring strategy.
EMISSIONS / USE NOTE:
The Street configuration replaces the original factory catalysts with aftermarket high-flow catalytic converters.
The Competition configuration completely removes the catalytic converters.
This product is not CARB certified and may not be legal for use on emissions-controlled vehicles.
The Competition configuration is intended for closed-course competition use only where required.
Customers are responsible for determining compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations before installation or use.
