The SOUL Competition Headers are designed for Porsche 997.1 Carrera owners looking to improve exhaust flow, engine response, and naturally aspirated flat-six performance while retaining the factory catalytic converter configuration. Unlike many header upgrades that remove or relocate catalytic converters, the 997.1 Carrera incorporates its catalytic converters farther downstream in the exhaust system, allowing SOUL to optimize the header design without affecting the factory emissions equipment.
SOUL developed the Competition Headers around a smoother exhaust path from the cylinder heads into the remainder of the system. Port-matched flanges, smooth-radius primary tubing, equal-length runners, and a true 3-into-1 merge collector improve upon the factory header geometry and provide a more efficient transition between the individual cylinders and downstream exhaust.
The design is particularly beneficial to the larger 3.8L Carrera S engine, which can take advantage of the additional exhaust volume, while also improving the flow path of the factory 3.6L Carrera engine. The result is improved exhaust flow and stronger torque response without introducing additional emissions concerns, catalyst-related fault codes, or unwanted changes in exhaust sound quality.

HEADER DESIGN:
The factory 997.1 Carrera places its catalytic converters farther downstream in the exhaust system, allowing the header geometry itself to be optimized independently of the emissions-control components.
