Porsche 997.1 Carrera / Carrera S / Carrera 4 / Carrera 4S / Targa SOUL Valved Exhaust System
Product Description
The SOUL Valved Exhaust System is designed for Porsche 997.1 Carrera owners who want a genuine change in exhaust character at the press of a button. With the valves closed, the system delivers a refined, sporty OEM+ sound with excellent cruising comfort. Open the valves and the character changes dramatically, providing a freer-flowing, race-inspired exhaust note that allows substantially more of the naturally aspirated flat-six sound to come through.
SOUL developed the system specifically around the 997.1 Carrera platform, applying the same muffler design principles used throughout its Porsche exhaust lineup to minimize unwanted cabin drone. With the valves closed, exhaust gases are routed through SOUL's bespoke mufflers for a sophisticated and controlled exhaust note. This is also the default position when the vehicle is started, providing a more refined cold-start and warm-up experience.
With the valves open, the system bypasses the primary muffled exhaust path and delivers a substantially louder, freer-flowing sound. SOUL describes the resulting tone as inspired by air-cooled Porsche Cup cars, providing a much more aggressive experience during spirited driving while retaining the ability to return the car to a quieter configuration whenever desired.
The complete SOUL system weighs approximately 36.6 lbs, compared with approximately 38.6 lbs for the factory exhaust components, reducing weight by approximately 2 lbs / 0.9 kg.
FITMENT:
Fits 2005–2008 Porsche 997.1 Carrera and Carrera S Coupe and Cabriolet models
Fits 2006–2008 Porsche 997.1 Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S Coupe and Cabriolet models

Compatible with 3.6L naturally aspirated flat-six Carrera, Carrera 4, and Targa 4 applications
Compatible with 3.8L naturally aspirated flat-six Carrera S, Carrera 4S, and Targa 4S applications
Available for vehicles equipped with or without factory Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE)
Does not fit 997 Turbo, GT2, GT3, or GT3 RS models
The 997.1 Carrera family uses the 3.6L engine in Carrera, Carrera 4, and Targa 4 models and the 3.8L engine in Carrera S, Carrera 4S, and Targa 4S models.
DETAILS:
Direct bolt-on replacement for the factory rear muffler assemblies
Dual-mode valved design provides distinctly different refined and aggressive exhaust settings
Valves default to the closed position at startup for a quieter and more refined warm-up experience
With the valves closed, exhaust gases are routed through SOUL's bespoke mufflers for a sophisticated, sporty Porsche exhaust note
SOUL designed the valves-closed configuration to provide drone-free cruising, including when paired with aftermarket catalytic converters
With the valves open, the system provides a freer-flowing, Cup-inspired exhaust sound
Valves-open operation becomes substantially louder when paired with high-flow catalytic converters or catless exhaust components
Valves controlled using the included remote controls
Valve operation can also be integrated with compatible factory HomeLink buttons
Weighs approximately 36.6 lbs / 16.6 kg
Factory exhaust components weigh approximately 38.6 lbs / 17.5 kg
Saves approximately 2 lbs / 0.9 kg compared with the factory exhaust components
Constructed from mandrel-bent .060-inch-wall T304L stainless steel tubing
Uses bespoke SOUL mufflers engineered specifically for the 997 Carrera platform
Laser-cut mounting brackets provide strength and accurate fitment
More than 15 fabrication hours are invested in each exhaust system
Each exhaust is built and tested in a thick-gauge fixture to minimize welding distortion and ensure proper fitment
Every system is quality-checked prior to shipment
Designed and manufactured in-house at SOUL Performance Products in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania
Backed by SOUL Performance Products' Lifetime Warranty for both street and track use
VALVE OPERATION:
The SOUL Valved Exhaust defaults to the valves-closed position every time the vehicle is started. This provides a quieter and more refined startup before the driver chooses to open the valves.
Valve operation is controlled using the included SOUL remotes and can also be programmed to compatible factory HomeLink buttons, allowing convenient control from inside the vehicle.
With the valves closed, SOUL designed the system specifically to eliminate objectionable cruising drone. Opening the valves provides the system's substantially louder and more aggressive race-inspired exhaust mode.
EXISTING EXHAUST CONFIGURATION:
The SOUL Valved Exhaust is available for both non-PSE vehicles and vehicles originally equipped with factory Porsche Sport Exhaust.
Because the factory exhaust and tip configurations differ, the customer's existing exhaust configuration must be selected when ordering to ensure the correct SOUL system is supplied.
Available configurations:
Non-PSE / Standard Factory Exhaust
Factory Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE)
TIP CONFIGURATION:
This DasMotoring listing includes SOUL Polished Chrome exhaust tips.
Using SOUL tips provides a consistent fitment solution across the 997.1 Carrera range. SOUL specifically notes that certain base Carrera applications and vehicles originally equipped with factory PSE require SOUL exhaust tips for proper fitment.
To keep ordering simple, alternate tip finishes are not offered through the standard product options. If you would like another available SOUL tip finish, contact DasMotoring before ordering and we can confirm availability and pricing.
NOTE: SOUL has discontinued its Carbon Fiber tips for this system.
SOUND WITH AFTERMARKET CATALYTIC CONVERTERS:
The SOUL Valved Exhaust is designed to remain refined with the valves closed even when paired with aftermarket catalytic converters.
With the valves open, however, high-flow catalytic converters or catless replacement components will significantly increase overall exhaust volume. Customers building a complete exhaust system should consider the combined sound level of all components rather than evaluating the rear mufflers independently.
