DIRECT BOLT-ON INSTALLATION:
Unlike a complete exhaust-system upgrade, these tips are designed specifically as a simple cosmetic replacement for the factory outlets.
Installation requires only the removal of the original tips and installation of the SOUL replacements.
There is:
No cutting
No welding
No bumper removal
No valve-controller installation
No vacuum-line installation
No electrical work
No ECU modification
This makes the tip set one of the easiest ways to change the rear appearance of a 991.1 Carrera Base.
SPECIFICALLY FOR NON-PSE CARS:
The factory exhaust-tip arrangement differs between non-PSE Base Carreras and vehicles equipped with Porsche Sport Exhaust.
SOUL therefore manufactures a dedicated tip family for the non-PSE application.
These tips should not be confused with SOUL's separate 991.1 Carrera S / GTS / Base-with-PSE exhaust tips.
For DasMotoring, this product should remain exclusively within the:
991.1 Carrera Base Without PSE
category.
POLISHED CHROME:
The Polished Chrome tips provide the most traditional appearance.
They are constructed from T304L stainless steel and finished in polished chrome for a bright, clean appearance that complements the factory trim and maintains an OEM-inspired look.
This finish is ideal for customers who want a visual upgrade without dramatically changing the character of the rear of the car.
CARBON FIBER:
The Carbon Fiber configuration provides the most motorsport-inspired appearance.
These tips use:
T304L stainless-steel internal construction
3-inch matte carbon-fiber outer shells
Rolled-edge carbon construction
The darker carbon finish provides additional contrast against the rear bumper while retaining the direct-fit installation of the other versions.
BLACK CHROME:
The Black Chrome version provides a darker and more understated alternative to conventional polished tips.
The stainless-steel tips receive a durable PVD black chrome coating, creating a deep metallic finish rather than the appearance of conventional black paint.
This is the premium finish within the range and carries a higher purchase price.
COSMETIC UPGRADE:
These exhaust tips are primarily an appearance modification.
They do not replace the factory mufflers, catalytic converters, headers, or exhaust piping.
Customers should not expect a measurable horsepower or torque increase from changing the exhaust tips alone.
The upgrade is intended to provide:
Improved rear-end appearance
Higher-quality visible exhaust outlets
Alternative finish choices
A more personalized exterior appearance
while retaining the factory non-PSE exhaust system.
COMPATIBLE WITH THE FACTORY EXHAUST:
These tips bolt directly to the factory non-PSE exhaust system.
The original:
Headers
Catalytic converters
Side mufflers
Rear exhaust piping
remain unchanged.
This makes the tips an excellent standalone cosmetic modification for otherwise stock vehicles.
COMPATIBLE WITH SOUL EXHAUST UPGRADES:
The tips are designed around the non-PSE Base Carrera outlet configuration.
Customers planning larger exhaust modifications should verify the tip mounting configuration of the specific aftermarket exhaust before assuming compatibility.
SOUL's dedicated Valved Performance Exhaust for non-PSE Base models is offered with its own tip selections as part of that complete exhaust assembly.
NO EFFECT ON EMISSIONS OR ECU:
Because the Bolt-On Exhaust Tips do not alter the catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, mufflers, or emissions-control system, installation does not require ECU calibration.
There are:
No oxygen-sensor changes
No catalyst changes
No valve electronics
No expected exhaust-related check engine light
No ECU tune requirement

Product Description
The SOUL Street Package is a complete performance exhaust solution developed specifically for 2012–2016 Porsche 991.1 Carrera Base models without Porsche Sport Exhaust / PSE.
The package combines SOUL's Long Tube Street Headers with its Valved Performance Exhaust System and dedicated Valve Controller, upgrading the exhaust from the cylinder heads through the rear of the vehicle while retaining a high-flow catted configuration and true driver-controlled sound adjustment.
Upstream, SOUL's long-tube headers replace the restrictive factory manifold and catalyst assemblies with performance-oriented runners, merge collectors, and high-flow catalytic converters. Downstream, the Valved Performance Exhaust provides a straight, unrestricted 2.5-inch valves-open path with an X-pipe and acoustically tuned Helmholtz resonators.
Close the valves and exhaust is redirected through the original Porsche side mufflers for a significantly quieter and more refined driving experience. Open the valves and the system bypasses those mufflers for dramatically increased volume, stronger throttle response, additional crackles and burbles, and an aggressive naturally aspirated flat-six soundtrack.
For Base Carrera owners who did not receive PSE from the factory, the included SOUL Valve Controller provides the dual-personality exhaust experience Porsche did not originally offer.

LONG TUBE STREET HEADERS:
The Street Package begins with SOUL's Long Tube Street Headers.
The factory 991.1 Carrera manifolds and catalyst assemblies are replaced with a performance-oriented long-tube design engineered to improve:
Exhaust scavenging
Low- and midrange torque
Throttle response
High-RPM breathing
Overall exhaust flow
Naturally aspirated engine sound
The long-tube architecture provides a more efficient route from the cylinder heads into the downstream exhaust while retaining catalytic converters for a more street-oriented configuration than SOUL's Competition Headers.
DESIGNED FOR THE 3.4L CARRERA:
The Base 991.1 Carrera uses Porsche's naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six.
SOUL specifically developed its 991.1 header architecture to work effectively with this engine, providing increased exhaust flow without sacrificing the gas velocity necessary for responsive street performance.
For the 3.4L engine, the complete Street Package is designed to improve:
Low-RPM response
Midrange acceleration
Throttle response
High-RPM breathing
Overall engine character
Exhaust sound throughout the rev range
HIGH-FLOW CATALYTIC CONVERTERS:
Unlike the Competition Header configuration, the Street Package retains catalytic converters.
The current SOUL Long Tube Street Header specification uses 300-cell performance catalytic converters designed to reduce restriction compared with the original Porsche catalyst assemblies.
SOUL's current catalyst architecture incorporates:
300-cell construction
Custom-specified precious-metal coating
Triple-metal-matrix core construction
Increased exhaust-flow capability
This allows the package to deliver much of the flow benefit of an upgraded header system while retaining a catted configuration.
VALVED PERFORMANCE EXHAUST:
Downstream of the Street Headers, SOUL's Valved Performance Exhaust provides two distinctly different operating modes.
The system uses:
2.5-inch performance tubing
Smooth-radius bends
X-pipe crossover
Helmholtz anti-drone resonators
Vacuum-operated exhaust valves
Original Porsche side mufflers as the quiet path
The result is significantly greater sound and flow with the valves open while preserving a genuinely useful quiet mode.
VALVES OPEN:
With the valves open, exhaust gases are given a straight and unrestricted path through the 2.5-inch performance exhaust.
The factory side mufflers are bypassed.
Expect:
Dramatically increased exhaust volume
Increased naturally aspirated flat-six character
Greater throttle-related sound
Stronger high-RPM wail
More crackles and burbles during deceleration
Improved exhaust flow
Greater mechanical engine presence
Cup Car-inspired character
This is the system's aggressive performance mode.
VALVES CLOSED:
Close the exhaust valves and gases are redirected through the factory Porsche side mufflers.
The original mufflers remain in the vehicle specifically to provide a highly effective quiet path.
Expect:
Significantly reduced exhaust volume
Refined low-key tone
Reduced cabin presence
Minimal undesirable drone
Comfortable highway cruising
Retention of recognizable flat-six character
The difference between valves-open and valves-closed operation gives the system its wide range of usable sound levels.
RETAINS THE FACTORY SIDE MUFFLERS:
SOUL's non-PSE solution cleverly incorporates the original Porsche side mufflers instead of discarding them.
Included secondary piping connects the factory mufflers to the new valved exhaust architecture.
The system therefore effectively provides:
Valves Open:
Direct 2.5-inch performance exhaust path
Valves Closed:
Factory side-muffler path
This allows a Base Carrera without PSE to gain true selectable sound control.
FACTORY SIDE-MUFFLER MODIFICATION REQUIRED:
Installation requires cutting the factory side-muffler piping.
SOUL's included secondary pipes are then clamped to the modified factory muffler outlets and incorporated into the new exhaust system.
The original mufflers themselves remain functional.
Because cutting is required, this package should not be represented as a completely reversible clamp-on modification.
X-PIPE DESIGN:
SOUL incorporates an X-pipe into the rear exhaust system to allow exhaust pulses from the opposing cylinder banks to interact.
The crossover helps:
Smooth the exhaust note
Improve bank-to-bank blending
Promote exhaust scavenging
Increase volumetric-efficiency potential
Produce a more cohesive flat-six tone
The X-pipe remains acoustically beneficial in both open and closed operating modes.
HELMHOLTZ ANTI-DRONE RESONATORS:
Higher-flowing headers combined with an aggressive rear exhaust can create undesirable resonance if the system is not acoustically engineered as a complete package.
SOUL identified approximately:
3,000–3,500 RPM
as an inherent resonance range for the 991.1 Carrera.
This is particularly important for PDK-equipped vehicles that may spend extended periods operating within this RPM range.
SOUL therefore uses tuned Helmholtz resonators to target undesirable frequencies without forcing the primary exhaust gases through additional restrictive mufflers.
This helps maintain:
Comfortable highway cruising
Reduced steady-state drone
Smooth valves-open operation
Smooth transition between quiet and aggressive modes
High exhaust-flow capability
SOUL VALVE CONTROLLER:
Because this package is specifically designed for vehicles without factory PSE, SOUL includes its own Valve Controller Kit.
The driver can control the exhaust valves using:
Included wireless remotes
or
The vehicle's HomeLink system
HomeLink integration requires two available programmable HomeLink buttons.
The controller gives the driver direct control over the exhaust valves rather than relying on Porsche's factory PSE programming.
VALVE CONTROLLER INSTALLATION:
Installation of the valve-control system requires additional work beyond the mechanical exhaust installation.
SOUL specifies:
Rear bumper removal
Locating a switched 12V power source
Electrical connection to the valve controller
Installation of vacuum lines
Connection of the valve-control hardware
Configuration of the included remotes or optional HomeLink controls
Professional installation is strongly recommended.
PERFORMANCE:
SOUL's Long Tube Street Headers have demonstrated particularly strong gains through the usable midrange.
Manufacturer testing of the Street Headers has shown approximately:
+9 wheel horsepower at peak power
+13 lb-ft at peak torque
with improvements exceeding approximately:
+25 wheel horsepower
and
+25 lb-ft
around 3,000 RPM in portions of the dyno curve.
Those figures relate to SOUL's header testing and should not be interpreted as a separate dyno test of the complete Street Package.
SOUL has also published testing of the rear Valved Performance Exhaust in combination with an ECU tune, BMC filters, and 93-octane fuel, but those larger results include multiple modifications and should not be represented as exhaust-only gains.
THROTTLE RESPONSE:
By combining the long-tube header architecture with the freer-flowing rear exhaust, the Street Package addresses restriction at both ends of the factory exhaust system.
Expected benefits include:
Sharper throttle response
Stronger low- and midrange acceleration
Improved high-RPM breathing
Reduced feeling of exhaust restriction
More immediate engine response
Stronger naturally aspirated character
SOUND CHARACTER:
With the valves open, expect:
Aggressive flat-six sound
Dramatically increased volume
Stronger high-RPM wail
Increased crackles and burbles
Greater mechanical character
Cup Car-inspired tone
Strong exhaust presence throughout the rev range
With the valves closed, expect:
Considerably lower volume
Refined cruising behavior
Reduced cabin drone
Comfortable highway use
Retention of the factory side mufflers
A much more discreet exhaust character
The ability to switch between these two personalities is the key advantage of the Street Package.
STREET PACKAGE VS. INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS:
The Street Package combines:
SOUL Long Tube Street Headers
with
SOUL Valved Performance Exhaust + Valve Controller
Purchasing the complete package gives the Base Carrera a comprehensive catted exhaust upgrade from the cylinder heads rearward.
The result combines the performance benefits of long-tube headers with the sound-control flexibility of the valved rear exhaust.
STREET PACKAGE VS. COMPETITION CONFIGURATION:
Street Package
High-flow catalytic converters
Long-tube headers
Valved 2.5-inch rear exhaust
Factory side mufflers retained as quiet path
Valve Controller included
Strong performance gains
Greater street-oriented usability
Designed around normal road-driving refinement
Competition Configuration
Catless headers
Maximum upstream exhaust flow
Greater exhaust volume
Greater emissions and diagnostic considerations
More competition-oriented character
For customers who regularly drive their Carrera on the street, the Street Package provides an effective balance between performance, sound, and everyday usability.
TIP OPTIONS:
Three exhaust-tip finishes are available:
Polished Chrome
A traditional bright stainless appearance.
Carbon Fiber
A motorsport-inspired finish with a more contemporary appearance.
Black Chrome
A darker premium finish for a more understated appearance.
The Black Chrome configuration carries a price premium.
EMISSIONS NOTE:
The SOUL Street Package retains catalytic converters but replaces the original Porsche catalyst assemblies with aftermarket performance components.
The system is not CARB certified.
Customers are responsible for determining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local emissions regulations before installation or use.
Product Description
The SOUL Valved Performance Exhaust System is engineered specifically for 2012–2016 Porsche 991.1 Carrera Base models originally equipped without Porsche Sport Exhaust / PSE, adding true driver-controlled exhaust valves to cars that did not leave the factory with Porsche's selectable sport-exhaust system.
With the valves open, exhaust gases travel through a straight, unrestricted 2.5-inch performance path and X-pipe before exiting the rear of the vehicle, producing dramatically greater volume, naturally aspirated flat-six character, crackles, burbles, and a Cup Car-inspired tone.
Close the valves and the system redirects exhaust through the vehicle's factory side mufflers, dramatically reducing volume for highway driving, neighborhoods, cold starts, or situations where a more discreet exhaust note is preferred.
SOUL developed the system specifically around the unique architecture of the non-PSE Base Carrera. An included SOUL Valve Controller Kit provides independent control from the supplied wireless remotes and can also be integrated with the vehicle's HomeLink system.
Integrated Helmholtz resonators target the 991.1 Carrera's inherent 3,000–3,500 RPM resonance range, helping maintain comfortable highway drivability even on PDK-equipped cars and vehicles fitted with higher-flowing headers.

PURPOSE-BUILT FOR NON-PSE CARRERAS:
This exhaust is not simply a PSE exhaust adapted with different wiring.
SOUL developed a dedicated solution for the 991.1 Carrera Base that left the factory without Porsche Sport Exhaust.
The Base non-PSE architecture does not already provide the complete factory PSE valve-control system, so SOUL includes its own:
Vacuum-controlled exhaust valves
Electronic valve controller
Wireless remotes
Required vacuum-line architecture
Dedicated secondary piping
The result gives a non-PSE Carrera a genuine dual-personality exhaust rather than simply replacing the factory mufflers with a permanently louder system.
VALVES OPEN:
With the valves commanded open, exhaust gases bypass the factory side mufflers and travel through the system's freer-flowing performance route.
The open path features:
2.5-inch piping
combined with:
smooth-radius bends
and a:
performance X-pipe
before exhaust exits through the rear tips.
SOUL designed the open path to be essentially unrestricted.
Expect:
Substantially increased exhaust volume
Stronger naturally aspirated flat-six sound
Greater engine presence throughout the rev range
Improved throttle-related sound
Greater crackles and burbles on deceleration
More aggressive high-RPM character
Cup Car-inspired exhaust tone
Immediate sound change at the push of a button
VALVES CLOSED:
Closing the exhaust valves redirects gases through the original Porsche side mufflers.
The factory mufflers remain part of the system specifically so they can provide substantial sound attenuation when desired.
With the valves closed, expect:
Significantly reduced exhaust volume
Refined cruising characteristics
Reduced cabin presence
Minimal drone
Retention of recognizable flat-six tone
Better suitability for neighborhoods and extended highway use
Dramatically greater sound control than a fixed muffler-delete system
This makes the exhaust particularly useful for owners who want an aggressive system without committing to that volume every time the car is driven.
RETAINS THE FACTORY SIDE MUFFLERS:
One of the most interesting aspects of this non-PSE system is that SOUL retains the vehicle's factory side mufflers as the quiet exhaust path.
Installation requires cutting the factory side-muffler piping and installing the included secondary pipes.
These secondary pipes connect the side mufflers to the new valved exhaust architecture.
This allows the vehicle to effectively operate with two different exhaust paths:
Valves Open:
Direct 2.5-inch performance path
Valves Closed:
Factory side-muffler path
The system therefore takes advantage of Porsche's original mufflers rather than requiring a second large aftermarket muffler assembly.
X-PIPE CROSSOVER:
SOUL incorporates an X-pipe into the performance exhaust route.
The crossover allows exhaust pulses from the left and right cylinder banks to interact rather than remaining completely separated.
Benefits include:
Smoother exhaust tone
Improved bank-to-bank blending
Better exhaust scavenging
Increased volumetric-efficiency potential
More cohesive high-RPM flat-six sound
The X-pipe also helps refine sound in both aggressive and quieter operating modes.
HELMHOLTZ ANTI-DRONE RESONATORS:
SOUL identified approximately:
3,000–3,500 RPM
as an inherent resonance range on the 991.1 Carrera when exhaust restriction is reduced.
This becomes particularly relevant on:
PDK-equipped vehicles
Cars driven for extended periods on the highway
Vehicles fitted with aftermarket headers
Rather than adding a larger conventional muffler that could compromise exhaust flow, SOUL incorporated Helmholtz resonators.
These resonators are acoustically tuned to target specific undesirable frequencies without forcing the main exhaust stream through additional restrictive muffling material.
The result is increased exhaust volume when desired without allowing the 3,000–3,500 RPM range to dominate the cabin.
DESIGNED WITH AFTERMARKET HEADERS IN MIND:
SOUL notes that a substantial percentage of its 991.1 Carrera customers combine rear exhaust upgrades with higher-flowing headers.
That combination can make a poorly designed rear exhaust excessively loud or prone to resonance.
SOUL therefore developed the Helmholtz system while considering cars equipped with upgrades such as:
SOUL Long Tube Street Headers
SOUL Long Tube Competition Headers
This makes the Valved Performance Exhaust a logical foundation for customers who may add headers later.
SOUL VALVE CONTROLLER:
Because these vehicles do not have factory PSE, SOUL includes its own Valve Controller Kit.
The valves can be commanded using:
Included wireless controller remotes
or
The vehicle's HomeLink system
Using HomeLink requires two programmable buttons—one for each valve command.
This gives the driver direct control over exhaust sound rather than relying on factory PSE logic.
VALVE CONTROLLER INSTALLATION:
Installing the valve controller on a non-PSE Carrera is more involved than installing an exhaust on a vehicle that already has factory PSE controls.
Installation requires:
Rear bumper removal
Locating a suitable switched 12V power source
Electrical connection to that switched power source
Installation of vacuum lines
Connection of the valve-control hardware
Configuration of the wireless remotes or optional HomeLink integration
SOUL strongly recommends professional installation for this system.
FACTORY SIDE-MUFFLER MODIFICATION REQUIRED:
This product should not be represented as a completely reversible clamp-on installation.
Installation requires cutting the factory side-muffler piping so that SOUL's included secondary pipes can be incorporated.
The factory mufflers themselves remain functional and become the system's quiet exhaust path, but modification of their associated piping is required during installation.
SOUND CHARACTER:
With the valves open, expect:
Aggressive naturally aspirated flat-six sound
Dramatically increased volume
Cup Car-inspired character
Stronger high-RPM wail
More crackles and burbles during deceleration
Greater mechanical engine presence
Immediate acoustic response to throttle inputs
With the valves closed, expect:
Significantly reduced volume
Refined low-key exhaust tone
Minimal drone
Comfortable highway driving
Greater sound control for residential driving
Retention of some naturally aspirated flat-six character
This wide separation between the two operating modes is the defining feature of the system.
PDK DRIVABILITY:
PDK-equipped vehicles can spend substantial time operating around engine speeds where an aggressive aftermarket exhaust produces steady-state resonance.
SOUL specifically developed the system to address this concern.
The combination of:
Factory side mufflers in quiet mode
Helmholtz resonators
X-pipe blending
helps keep cruising resonance under control while allowing substantially more sound when requested.
PERFORMANCE:
SOUL cites testing performed by Eurocharged Canada showing gains of approximately:
+27 wheel horsepower
and
+36 lb-ft of torque at approximately 4,000 RPM
However, these numbers were achieved with a combination of:
SOUL Valved Performance Exhaust System
ECU calibration
BMC air filters
93-octane fuel
These figures should therefore not be represented as exhaust-only gains.
SOUL does not publish a standalone dyno figure isolating the rear exhaust from the ECU tune and intake-filter changes.
WITH FACTORY HEADERS:
When installed as a standalone rear-exhaust modification, the factory:
Exhaust manifolds
Catalytic converters
Oxygen sensors
remain upstream and unchanged.
This configuration focuses primarily on:
Sound control
Reduced rear-exhaust restriction
Improved exhaust flow
Driver-selectable exhaust character
WITH SOUL STREET HEADERS:
Pairing this exhaust with SOUL Long Tube Street Headers creates a more comprehensive catted performance system.
Benefits include:
300-cell performance catalysts
Long-tube header architecture
Increased exhaust flow
Stronger midrange response
Greater naturally aspirated sound
Continued ability to quiet the vehicle using the factory side mufflers
The Helmholtz resonators were specifically designed with higher-flowing header combinations in mind.
WITH SOUL COMPETITION HEADERS:
Pairing the system with SOUL Long Tube Competition Headers creates a significantly more aggressive configuration.
The combination provides:
Catless long-tube headers
Maximum upstream exhaust flow
Straight-through 2.5-inch valves-open rear path
Significantly greater exhaust volume
Retained ability to redirect exhaust through the factory side mufflers
Maximum naturally aspirated flat-six character
Applicable calibration and emissions considerations should be addressed when removing factory catalytic converters.
TIP OPTIONS:
Three exhaust-tip finishes are available:
Polished Chrome
Constructed from stainless steel with a polished chrome finish for a traditional bright appearance.
Carbon Fiber
Carbon-fiber-finished tips provide a more modern, motorsport-oriented appearance.
Black Chrome
A darker PVD black chrome finish for customers wanting a more understated rear appearance.
The Black Chrome configuration carries a premium over the Polished Chrome and Carbon Fiber options.
EMISSIONS NOTE:
When installed with the original Porsche headers and catalytic converters, the SOUL Valved Performance Exhaust modifies the rear exhaust system and does not itself remove the factory catalytic converters.
Installation of separate aftermarket headers can change the vehicle's emissions configuration.
Customers are responsible for determining compliance with all applicable regulations for their complete vehicle setup.
Product Description

CATLESS LONG-TUBE DESIGN:
The factory 991.1 Carrera exhaust manifolds must satisfy manufacturing cost, packaging, emissions, noise, and durability requirements.
The result is an assembly that uses:
Compact factory manifold geometry
Pressed exhaust flanges
Restrictive primary-tube shapes
Generic collector architecture
Large factory catalytic converters
SOUL's Competition Headers remove these compromises and replace the factory assembly with a dedicated performance-oriented long-tube system.
The result is a much freer path from the cylinder heads into the downstream exhaust.
LONG-TUBE RUNNERS:
Long-tube headers allow the exhaust system to make better use of exhaust-pulse energy than a compact factory manifold.
Runner length and collector location influence:
Exhaust scavenging
Exhaust-gas velocity
Cylinder evacuation
Throttle response
Midrange performance
High-RPM breathing
SOUL uses long runners combined with smooth-radius bends to maintain a cleaner path through the exhaust system.
PORT-MATCHED FLANGES:
The transition between the cylinder-head exhaust port and the header primary is critical to efficient exhaust flow.
SOUL uses port-matched flanges intended to minimize abrupt steps and restrictions as exhaust gases leave the cylinder head.
A smoother transition helps maintain gas velocity and reduces turbulence entering the primary tubes.
PERFORMANCE-ORIENTED COLLECTORS:
The individual primary runners converge through SOUL's dedicated collector design.
SOUL specifically uses equal inputs from each primary runner to promote a smoother and more balanced convergence of exhaust flow.
The collector architecture is designed to improve:
Exhaust-flow efficiency
Pulse interaction
Scavenging
Engine response
High-RPM performance
This is particularly important on the naturally aspirated Carrera engine, where exhaust-pulse tuning plays a direct role in cylinder filling and evacuation.
MAXIMUM EXHAUST FLOW:
The Competition Headers completely remove the factory catalytic converters.
This eliminates one of the largest restrictions in the original exhaust system and creates a much freer path downstream of the engine.
Benefits include:
Reduced exhaust backpressure
Increased exhaust-flow capacity
Improved high-RPM breathing
Sharper throttle response
Greater performance potential
Increased exhaust volume
Stronger mechanical engine character
LOWER OPERATING TEMPERATURES:
Catalytic converters operate at extremely high temperatures and retain considerable heat within the exhaust system.
Removing the factory catalytic converters reduces a major heat source immediately downstream of the engine.
SOUL specifically highlights decreased operating temperatures as one of the benefits of the Competition Header configuration.
This can be particularly useful on vehicles subjected to repeated high-load or track operation.
WEIGHT REDUCTION:
The factory header assemblies include large and heavy catalytic converters.
The Competition Headers eliminate this catalyst mass entirely.
SOUL specifically identifies weight savings as one of the benefits of the system.
However, SOUL does not currently publish a verified numerical factory-versus-Competition-header weight comparison, so DasMotoring does not advertise an unsupported pound figure.
SOUND CHARACTER:
Removing the factory catalytic converters makes a significant difference in the 991.1 Carrera's exhaust character.
Expect:
Increased naturally aspirated flat-six volume
Deeper low-RPM tone
Stronger midrange exhaust presence
Greater mechanical character
Increased throttle-related sound
More aggressive high-RPM wail
Greater exhaust intensity approaching redline
Significantly more sound than the catted Street Headers
The final volume and tone depend heavily on the rear exhaust installed downstream.
WITH FACTORY NON-PSE REAR EXHAUST:
The Competition Headers can be installed while retaining the Base Carrera's factory non-PSE rear mufflers.
This creates an interesting combination for owners who want significantly greater exhaust flow and flat-six character without simultaneously replacing the entire rear exhaust.
This configuration retains:
Factory non-PSE rear mufflers
Original rear-exhaust architecture
Original rear tips
while gaining:
Catless long-tube headers
Reduced upstream restriction
Increased sound
Improved engine response
Reduced catalyst-related heat
PSE IS NOT REQUIRED:
Porsche Sport Exhaust is not required for these headers.
The headers are installed upstream of the rear muffler system and are not dependent on the vehicle being equipped with PSE.
There is therefore no unique Competition Header version for PSE versus non-PSE vehicles.
This listing is categorized specifically for 991.1 Carrera Base Without PSE customers, but the underlying SOUL header assembly fits the broader 991.1 Carrera platform.
RR RACING SUPERCHARGER COMPATIBILITY:
SOUL specifically developed and tested its catless header solution in conjunction with RR Racing's 991 Carrera Supercharger Kit.
The reduced exhaust restriction and elimination of the catalytic converters make the Competition Headers particularly well suited to higher-output applications where exhaust-flow capacity and thermal management become increasingly important.
For naturally aspirated cars, the same freer-flowing architecture provides increased exhaust response and sound.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT:
The Competition Headers may trigger a check engine light.
The factory catalytic converters are completely removed.
The vehicle's oxygen-sensor and catalyst-monitoring strategy may therefore detect that the original emissions equipment is no longer present.
SOUL recommends an appropriate custom ECU calibration to disable catalyst-related diagnostic faults for track applications.
ECU TUNING:
A custom ECU calibration is strongly recommended when using the Competition Headers.
An appropriate tune can:
Address catalyst-related check engine lights
Optimize ignition timing
Optimize fueling
Take greater advantage of reduced exhaust restriction
Support additional engine modifications
Improve integration with forced-induction applications
The headers can physically be installed without a tune, but catalyst-related faults may occur.
COMPETITION HEADERS VS. STREET HEADERS:
Long Tube Competition Headers
$3,055.00
Completely catless
Maximum exhaust flow
Maximum header-induced sound
Lower exhaust-system weight
Reduced catalyst-related heat
May trigger a check engine light
Custom ECU calibration recommended
Intended for off-road / competition applications
Long Tube Street Headers

Use on emissions-controlled vehicles operated on public roads may violate applicable regulations.
Customers are responsible for determining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws before installation or use.
Product Description
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers are designed for Porsche 991.1 Carrera owners looking to improve power, torque, throttle response, exhaust flow, and naturally aspirated flat-six sound while retaining a high-flow catted exhaust configuration.
SOUL replaces the restrictive factory manifold and catalyst assemblies with a purpose-built long-tube header system featuring 2-inch primary runners and large-diameter 300-cell performance catalytic converters.
The 2-inch runner architecture was developed to provide strong exhaust flow while maintaining the gas velocity necessary for responsive street performance. Although SOUL developed the system around the larger Carrera engines as well, it specifically notes that the same design produces strong gains on the 3.4L Carrera engine used in Base 991.1 models.
This DasMotoring listing is specifically intended for 3.4L Carrera models without Porsche Sport Exhaust / PSE, allowing owners to retain their factory non-PSE rear exhaust while substantially improving the upstream exhaust system.

DESIGNED FOR THE 3.4L CARRERA:
The 991.1 Carrera Base uses Porsche's naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six, making exhaust scavenging and gas velocity particularly important.
Unlike a turbocharged engine, the 3.4L cannot compensate for a restrictive exhaust system simply by increasing boost pressure.
SOUL's 2-inch long-tube header architecture is designed to improve the engine's ability to evacuate exhaust gases while maintaining strong gas velocity.
Potential benefits include:
Improved low-RPM response
Increased midrange torque
Sharper throttle response
Improved high-RPM breathing
Stronger acceleration through the usable rev range
Greater naturally aspirated engine character
2-INCH LONG-TUBE RUNNERS:
Header diameter is a compromise between outright flow capacity and exhaust-gas velocity.
Tubing that is too small can become restrictive as engine speed and exhaust flow increase.
Tubing that is excessively large can reduce gas velocity and weaken scavenging, particularly at lower engine speeds.
SOUL selected 2-inch primary runners to provide substantial flow capacity while preserving the exhaust velocity required for responsive street performance.
The long-tube architecture also allows the runner length and collector placement to be optimized more effectively than the compact factory manifold arrangement.
300-CELL PERFORMANCE CATALYSTS:
The Street Headers retain catalytic converters rather than converting the vehicle to a completely catless configuration.
SOUL currently specifies:
300-cell performance catalytic converters
featuring:
Custom-specified precious-metal coating
Triple-metal-matrix catalyst construction
High-flow architecture
Reduced restriction compared with the factory catalyst assemblies
This provides a useful compromise between the exhaust-flow advantages of aftermarket headers and the refinement of a catted system.
MERGE COLLECTOR DESIGN:
The individual header runners feed into purpose-designed collectors containing merge spikes.
The merge spikes help control the transition as the individual exhaust streams converge.
Rather than allowing the gases to collide abruptly inside the collector, the geometry is intended to guide flow smoothly into the downstream exhaust.
Collector design influences:
Exhaust scavenging
Gas velocity
Throttle response
Midrange torque
High-RPM breathing
Exhaust sound
This is particularly relevant on a naturally aspirated engine where exhaust pulse behavior plays an important role in cylinder evacuation.
DYNO-PROVEN PERFORMANCE:
SOUL independently tested the 991.1 Long Tube Street Headers on a Mustang dynamometer.
The reported results include approximately:
+9 wheel horsepower at peak power
+13 lb-ft of torque at peak torque
More importantly, substantially larger gains were recorded through portions of the usable RPM range.
SOUL reports improvements exceeding approximately:
+25 wheel horsepower
and
+25 lb-ft of torque
around 3,000 RPM.
That means the most noticeable benefit is not necessarily the headline peak-horsepower number.
The stronger improvement through the low- and midrange should be particularly noticeable during normal street driving, corner exits, highway acceleration, and situations where the driver rolls into the throttle without immediately downshifting.
LOW- & MIDRANGE PERFORMANCE:
For a street-driven Carrera, improving the shape of the power curve can be more useful than increasing only the maximum horsepower figure.
The long-tube headers produce meaningful gains in the RPM range the engine frequently operates within during normal driving.
Expect:
Stronger response from lower engine speeds
Increased midrange torque
More immediate acceleration
Reduced feeling of restriction as RPM rises
Greater urgency from the 3.4L engine
Improved response without requiring an ECU tune
ECU TUNING:
An ECU calibration is not required simply to install the SOUL Long Tube Street Headers.
The headers and high-flow catalytic converters are designed to operate as a bolt-on upgrade on otherwise properly functioning vehicles.
SOUL notes, however, that additional gains may be available with appropriate ECU calibration.
This is particularly relevant above approximately 5,000 RPM, where ignition timing and other calibration changes can take greater advantage of the improved exhaust flow.
SOUND CHARACTER:
The Long Tube Street Headers increase exhaust character without automatically turning the vehicle into an extremely loud system.
With the factory non-PSE rear exhaust retained, expect:
Deeper naturally aspirated flat-six tone
Greater exhaust presence under load
More mechanical engine character
Stronger high-RPM sound
Increased intensity approaching redline
More audible exhaust response to throttle inputs
Greater overall engine character without replacing the factory rear mufflers
The exact final sound will depend heavily on the rear exhaust installed downstream.
WITH FACTORY NON-PSE REAR EXHAUST:
These headers can be installed while retaining the factory Base Carrera non-PSE rear exhaust system.
This configuration provides:
Improved upstream exhaust flow
300-cell performance catalysts
Increased power and torque
Sharper throttle response
Stronger flat-six sound
Retention of the quieter factory non-PSE rear mufflers
No need to convert the vehicle to Porsche Sport Exhaust
This makes the Street Headers particularly appealing for owners who want a meaningful performance upgrade without making the rear exhaust dramatically louder.
PSE IS NOT REQUIRED:
Porsche Sport Exhaust is not required for installation.
The headers sit upstream of the rear mufflers and are not dependent on whether the vehicle was originally equipped with PSE.
There is therefore no separate PSE versus non-PSE header version.
The same SOUL header architecture can work with multiple compatible rear-exhaust configurations.
This DasMotoring listing is simply organized specifically for customers shopping under the 991.1 Carrera Base Without PSE category.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT:
SOUL developed the Street Headers and their high-flow catalysts to provide increased exhaust flow while avoiding catalyst-related check engine lights under normal operating conditions.
As with any aftermarket catalyst system, diagnostic behavior can still be influenced by:
Oxygen-sensor condition
Existing engine faults
Fuel quality
ECU software
Additional exhaust modifications
Catalyst condition
Vehicle mileage and maintenance history
The system should therefore not be interpreted as an unconditional CEL guarantee under every possible vehicle condition.
STREET HEADERS VS. COMPETITION HEADERS:
Long Tube Street Headers
300-cell performance catalytic converters
Street-oriented configuration
Significant increase in exhaust flow
Strong low- and midrange gains
Retain a catted exhaust system
Designed around normal factory ECU operation
Compatible with the factory non-PSE rear exhaust
$4,855.00
Competition Headers
Catless
Maximum available header flow
Greater exhaust volume
More aggressive character
Greater emissions and diagnostic considerations
More competition-oriented configuration
The Street Headers are the more appropriate choice for customers looking for a substantial performance improvement while retaining catalytic converters.
EMISSIONS NOTE:
The SOUL Long Tube Street Headers retain catalytic converters but replace the original Porsche catalyst assemblies with aftermarket performance components.
They are not CARB certified.
Customers are responsible for determining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations before installation or use.
